oxygen dependence is a multi-step process and thus its complexity. From organs to tissues to cells all need to function and respond accordingly. I couldnt say 100% that she/he does not have a heart issue but I know her immune system is not functioning optimally nor are the raw materials(whole foods) provided to support the heart, lungs, brain,etc. There are many things that cause coughing long term. Get a check up, avoid crappy food that can contribute to the problem, she/he may need to seek other medicines to manage symptoms and get a second option. Personally convention medicine does not check for optimal health but checks for disease or late stage disease. Prevention is the best here, this person is on the wrong path. The body is showing discrepancies, thus the disease process is setting in. Fortunately, at this point it can be reversed or managed by my above statement. if this person waits then a life of medications, illness and quality of life is poor or will be. good luck!

It is a bit exaggerated at first, but it starts to wind down in the second volume when the mangaka focuses on what the girls do with each other.
