That was the reason the director chose to make it so linear... so people got involved in the story rather than wandering around and getting lost. Really though, the whole linear issue is being blown out of proportion... FFX is one of the most beloved in the series (and one of my three favorites) and it's completely linear. The maps were just pathways to your destination like 13... and nobody complained.

I own a modded xbox360 well, so far yeah totally linear... i am at 17hrs of play +\-... in this part the way that the story is told make's you not even care that it's linear(well... in my case xD)

So you've actually been playing FF13... did you get an import or something? What did you think about it being so "linear"?

It certainly seems like you'll be a FF fan after this game. You should really check out the "classics" like FFX... if you don't mind ps2 graphics.
