Some heavy otaku do tend to act like that, excessive fan-boy-ism I guess, they don't like seeing the anime "reducing" from the value of the manga so they act in that way.
Just ignore them, they'll go away, happens everywhere - the solution is always the same. |

I too have my reserved preferences, but I don't mind a little divergence here and there.
