Default About Manga elitists - 05-14-2010, 01:21 PM

By the topic title, i mean people who'll read the manga and then utterly slay the anime counterpart because it's not completely faithful to the manga, which in most cases you read the manga first then watch the anime after.

I do believe there is quite a superiority complex to most Manga readers, they have to have a go at every anime that doesn't follow the manga to the letter, I can understand you getting great enjoyment from the manga and not wanting the anime to diverge from that, but do they have to seem such snobs about it? "I read the manga so I'm better than the rest of you anime watchers" is something I get from manga readers. it certainly irks me to an extent, plus I read manga as well and just don't see why manga elitists have to be how they are.

Also the dreaded spoiler manga Elitists, who'll gloat about knowing whats gonna happen, then without warning just post what'll happen next. Way to spoil it for others.

THIS, however, is where we part ways.

really, now, I don't endorse snobbish behavior(I don't condemn it either, being a major shounen jump hater) but overall, this is little more than a defensive reaction to insensitive behavior.

it's a common delusion, and the sooner you realize it, the sooner you'll stop blaming others in order to comfort yourself.

lol, yeah, well, elitsts are dicks in either situation. alot of this is more fanboyism than anything, which is just plain dumbfuckery in the first place.

fanboy scum.

honestly, in this day and age, subtitle elitism is becoming an outdated misconception, with the english dubbers producing steadily better works, and the sub fans really not branching out enough to have an informed opinion.

I used to have a shounen jump/final fantasy fanboy for a roommate. I know this pain well, considering he'd also spoiled the entire metal gear solid storyline before I'd even gotten the game delivered to me online. fucking retard.

then again, he's a shounen jump and FF fanboy. just being a fanboy in the first place, his tastes and common sense are questionable from the beginning.

Some heavy otaku do tend to act like that, excessive fan-boy-ism I guess, they don't like seeing the anime "reducing" from the value of the manga so they act in that way.
Just ignore them, they'll go away, happens everywhere - the solution is always the same.

It's nice to see some agreement

Why would someone who also reads manga be deluded? But then it's probably because I tend to read the manga after the anime in most cases.

otaku's are excessive and obsessive to the point of being mentally unstable by the very definition of the word.

I'm saying people often respond defensively and vilify those who treat them badly. it's delusional and wrong.

never lose sight of how, why, and what, no matter how distressing things get.

It was probably wrong of me to say most manga readers are like that.

I too have my reserved preferences, but I don't mind a little divergence here and there.

not necessarily what I was getting at. generalization isn't as bad a thing as alot of people make it out to be. alot of the time, people share a hivemind collective and there are plenty of cases where generalizing to the extent of "most" is actually accurate.

basically, I'm saying that calling others snobbish because they treated you badly could, not going to imply it certainly is, but it IS a common defensive reaction, lead to delusional behavior. at least some of them could possibly be just unthinking or insensitive, and their insensitive behavior could be hurtful, and in your hurt, you perceived them as lording something over you.

their actions are still immature, but going so far as to call them snobbish just strikes me as possibly one of the things I've mentioned.

OH! No they haven't treated me badly. I see them treat others badly, but if it's with me I just change the way I view the episodes that lead up to what was spoiled. Some can't do that and get worked up/upset by it, which really irritates me. Especially if they did it just to be spiteful. Still, it doesn't change things, I've just scapegoated myself. Heheh. ^ ¬ ^;;

eh, I'll still agree that they're rude as hell for doing it.
