No i think he can.But that dumb kid doesnt know how to use it. I think Kubo will link it to the menos incident that occured first time and ichigo beats his ass. He might probably say smthing like "Due to huge realease of reaitsu u can open a gate connecting this world and the other world" and ichigo possess only reaitsu , not skills.

Lolz, from memory, didn't they open the gate by stabbing their zan into thin air? Lolz, Ichigo doens't need to open the gate, Unohana will open it for him. And if Isshin got up, I doubt Urahara or Yourichi are down for the count either. This probably Urahara's plan, to stall for time that is. After all, his assistant, Tensai isn't even there, so their's prob a trap. Something like a level 130 kido that takes a while to charge.
