Love Shuffle Review -

Well, I just finished watching Love Shuffle, which I finished in 2 days. I have to say that it was an immensely enjoyable series, which I would highly recommend to anyone interested in the romance/comedy genres. At its core, it is a story about 4 "couples" who encounter problems in their "relationships", which they attempt to resolve by rotating partners on a weekly basis. What follows is an examination of the various interactions and compatabilities of the various participants. At times orderly, at others absolutely chaotic, it mirrors the twists and turns that love often takes during the journey that is life. The acting is well-executed, with each of the characters being both likeable and hateful during various parts of the story. Yet, there is always a reason to see each of the characters succeed in their quest for love, which makes the series so intriguing. This is not a simple love story between a single pair, where the viewer is simply awaiting the final happy ending, but an interplay between 8 people who have all come to bond and form deep relationships amongst themselves. The only negative thing I can say about this series is that the characters all have set personality traits that are rigid and do not change much throughout the series, so it mirrors an anime series in that regard. They do not adapt as in real life, but this makes following the distinct personalities much easier. Almost every aspect of love is captured in this series, as each of the participants have their own reasons for participating in the "Love Shuffle": unrequited love, the pain of losing a loved one, loving someone dearly but needing to let go, love just for the sake of sex, wanting to die, loneliness, love immaturity, hanging onto a failing relationship, unable to forget past loves, etc.
At times happy and at times touching and sad, this series really moved me tremendously. It was like I was brought into their lives, saw how they grew as individuals and bonded as friends and lovers... and when the last chapter came and went, there was a twinge of sadness, to see everything come to a conclusion and know that that would be the last that I would see all of them. I guess that's the message that this series is trying to convey: that fate works in strange ways, that from a single elevator shutdown, friendships can be formed and even when people have to live out their lives and move on and grow apart, those friendships that had bonded and those memories that came and went... will always be there, in times of quiet reflection, when you need them the most.
Anyways, give this series a try and hopefully, I'm not wrong in my recommendation...
