hello all, i'm new here and i'm french. My nickname is Karimitchi and i have 31 years old, i'm a fan of japanese universe since my childhood and my favorites manga is Dragon Ball (Original haha), Captain Tsubasa, Slam Dunk, Saint Seiya etc etc. About animes, there are Ghibli movies of course and a lot of Shonen and seinen like Major (Goro Shigenoooooooooo !!), Saint Seiya (Rest In Piece Shingo Araki), Akira (like my manga ^^). I love too much things. At the moment, i'm watching "Last Exile" and it's really great ^^.

Do you know any Japanese? I am picking up words and phrases, so it is interesting when you catch something that wasn't subtitled.

Honestly, I don't know what to say about myself,

What is your favourite animé? What don't you like? What attracts you to a new series?

Me? Haruhi Suzumiya. Because underneath the moeball characters is a genre-savvy story that is surprisingly deep. [having seen the animation, I'm not reading the light novels, a nice amount of backstory there]

I don't like mecha. I'll give a series with mecha a go if it looks interesting otherwise, but from a scientific viewpoint, a giant humanoid is possibly the dumbest shape for a robot weapon. Then when it pulls out a sword the size of a building and hovers over the ground, I'm like "sod off, you left cool and are now firmly in the land of stupid!".

Three things attract me to animé, depending on my mood. I generally like a nice involved story - it was actually Ghost In The Shell that introduced me to Japanese animation. I was so happy to see the two seasons, and they didn't disappoint (Tachikoma, so kawaii!). I like cute, I suspect I'm one of few who enjoyed YuriYuri (which, to its credit, didn't try to be anything it wasn't). That doesn't mean I like all cute. I think a certain amount of playing with the stereotype is necessary, or otherwise it is just a bit boring... I downloaded all of Kami-sama no memo-chô, but I think I've only actually watched half of it. The character seems, to me, to be too much like a poor imitation of "Victorica" from Gosick, and, worse, her intuitive leaps started seeming more contrived as time went by.
Sci-fi is good, especially if it throws in a bucket of blood, such as Elfen Lied. Or weirds out completely (Serial Experiments Lain). I think my dream animé would be the SOS Brigade ending up in the Firefly universe.

Special mention to .hack//Sign. I wasn't overly interested in the synopsis of the story, but I really liked the soundtrack.

I love haruhi Suzumy, she's so crazy and i have to watch GITS season 1 and 2; the movies are beautiful ^^. And soon at cinema, there are the new movie of Ghibli yeahhh !! Don't miss it hehe
