I have a question. Do you know if the Toriko series is an upscale? Like the fansubs that are released from the Japanese broadcasts. Are they actually bluray quality or just upscales? I've been trying to figure this out. Japan has only released DVD versions of Toriko. And FUNimation's trailers are 720p to 1080p and I would watch it upscaled to 720 or 1080p and it looks pretty similar to bluray quality. I'm just saying because I've always thought Japan released Toriko on bluray but they never did for some odd reason. That's why I'm thinking if its an upscale and decided to ask you. Hope to hear from you later.

But it would be the same crap with Japan's Toriko DVD's lol. Not just FUNimation's. Just downloaded your encode of the first episode. The quality compares to the clips that FUNimation provided in 720p and 1080p on youtube. They really don't look like crap. They look very identical to the HD broadcasts from Japan. So the HD broadcasts must be an upscale. Because thats what it looks like. And It makes sense now that I think about it since Japan never released Toriko on Blu-Ray. The other encodes i saw online that were from the FUNi set were in 480p. I'm comparing everything with a 42 inch HDTV right now so I see every little detail. Thanks for the episode.

What?
When playing the DVD's on a player with an HDMI cable to an HDTV it should be in 1080p HD. Looking like this encode or better and similar to the FUNi Youtube clips in 1080p but better because even though its in 1080p its really compressed on the website. Both Japan and America's DVD's are upscales like i said so you can't do much about it. The broadcasted episodes will show you each episode uncompressed I'm pretty sure. Because that's how some of them look like. People can decompress the DVD's in 1080p and it should look like broadcast quality. Just like how they air it. There's no native HD version of Toriko. They are upscales from DVD quality. Just like these episodes that are in 720p. But they are still good though. Some people just didn't know about it. |
