It's a nice movie, with one of the most beautiful backgrounds ever drawn. The looks are simply outstanding. And the original soundtrack, made by the incredible TENMON, is also great and touching (even if not as good as ef's or 5cm's).
As for the story, it has war, sci fi and fantasy... but it's really not about that. It's a romantic drama... and a pretty good one at that. The sci fi part is kinda good... but it feels lacking in the end. No doubts it wants to tell a beautiful love story, and that all the rest is a just a background. For me the best movie of this director. Hoshi no koe was great, but this one is better. And personally, i liked much more than byousoku 5cm... a movie that wasn't anything great to me apart from having one of the best animations ever and a fantastic ost. |

I feel great sympathy for those that haven't seen this masterpiece.
If you're saying "ehh... it's a slice of life..." then take those ideals and toss them out the window, because a movie like this, regardless of personal tastes in genres, is too good to leave unwatched. Every scene of this movie could be a wallpaper... it's that beautiful. |

I just finished watching this and I would rate this movie a 10/10
Everything was fascinating, from the actual storyline to the scenery. And I quote someone who said that every scene in here is worthy of becoming a wallpaper. This is a definite MUST SEE for those who enjoy beautiful movies |
