Default Anime drawing books for beginners - 03-11-2010, 06:01 AM

Does anyone know a good book I can torrent or go buy that teaches beginners how to draw modern style anime? All the books I've found so far are like old style anime....from like 2000 and like 1990s. I don't wanna draw stuff like DBZ or anything, I wanna draw things like minami-ke, Fairy Tail, Nyankoi, Railgun, Index, so on.....T^T

If anyone has any good book titles I would be extremely happy xD

Edit: Sorry moderators! I forgot that we had an art section here T^T sorry for making you move my thread D:

I would suggest not starting with manga, and learn how to draw a normal human first. Realism is a really good starting point for artist. If you look back at famous artist, their first works were realistic. Ill look for some books, but really... to draw manga, you need to know proportions. Which is something that is hard to learn if you drop right into something that changes proportions.

You can try this one: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

But, i really do suggest you start here : [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Please, please, please heed the wise words of Kawajiri up there. Real manga artists start by drawing from life first then stylizing later. Do not fall into the deviantART trap of stylizing first because you don't know what you're stylizing.

thats a really good advice tbh, first starting to draw normal humans and then manga, whenever i would try to draw some DBZ characters just for fun, it would suck, probably because i dont know how to probably draw a normal human

And also, don't just jump in. This is a random page from my sketchbook when i was figuring out how to draw an elephant.
