I have been observing the Sig contest results for a while and have realised that voting is based on who is who or who is friends with whom on animetake.
Very few people base their vote on the creative aspect of the sig. An argument might be, some people find it hard to distiniguish what has been creatively done to make the sig, but I feel no one here is dumb enough to not spot what changes or additions have be done if they look at the render. I will admit, some of my past votes have been on a personal standpoint but that is not because I want too but rather because I see what is going on and decide to throw away my vote carelessly. Personally, I cannot stand any signature that is almost entirely based from a wallpaper because to me, that is technically ripping off someone else's work. Yes! you should vote for what you like and what appeals to you but I am employing you to start factoring the creativity behind the sig and not just what you see. Do this by simply checking the render and looking at how much work has gone into the signature and if the overall concept appeals to you. it doesnt take too long and it is a 'simple spot the difference' game. It doesnt matter to me who wins or loses the competition, but what I cannot seem to stomach any longer is the politics behind this competition. It takes out the sportmanship of calling this a competition. you can chose to ignore this or just put this into consideration. As from now, I will only give credit to those I can see that put in the effort or managed to convey the concept to me in their sigs. |

You're basing this on what? The same people getting a lot of votes? Same people winning? Same people mentioned over and over?
To be honest I've never seen an issue with the voting here, and just because you have an eye for details some others might not. We had signature voting done without a poll for a while where people had to explain why they give their vote to X person. Barely anyone voted. The poll was quickly re-invented to actually get votes. This is what i ask myself: Does the given render work for this theme? How's the quality of the render? Does the background blend with the render in a "natural" way? Details can certainly be looked at, but for the most part I quickly look them through and choose from what I believe is necessary. I can't go into the details like graphic users can, and I don't have a keen eye for details. Anyone can look at details, but I don't feel like I need to spend more than 3-5 minutes of my time choosing my favorite. Do also remember that everything is subjective, a lot of people vote for signatures containing their favorite characters and similar. Frankly I cannot blame for this either. TL;DR: Not everyone are gfx artists :3 |

I know there will be bias when voting, for some of the reasons you mentioned above and that is why I clearly said that you should vote for what you like and what appeals to you. I am only adding that you should also consider what the person has done in creating a his/her sig. I am not asking for an analysis, I don't expect you to scrutinize all elements. I am simply asking you to view their chosen render and make your mind up. You can be subjective and still retain some objectivity in your decision making. My observation on what I see happening is what I have personally noted. Like I said I dont have a problem with those that win or lose, it is a simple competition. But let us make it a fair competition. That is all i am asking. P.S You don't have to be a graphic artist, to spot the difference. Everyone played that game right from kindergarten. |

This thread is pointless. It's impossible to make a completely unbiased decision anywhere in life. Of course a character I recognise is going to appeal to me more than one which I've never seen before in my life.
Can you prove that people have been voting based on friendships? Just because you believe the votes are going to the incorrect signature, doesn't mean that is the case. Voting is based on a persons opinion, and everyone is going to think differently. The sig that you think is better and should have got the votes may not be the same one as another person thinks is good. |

Can I....Can I spam here plox?
j.k In all seriousness, both sides here make a good point. Whenever I vote here I just look at whats pretty. If it just so happens that it was made by the same person I voted the week before and so on, oh well. I don't vote because of who I am friends with. If that was the case, S.T would have more votes and so would Weika and Duratrix and so on since i got no beef with anyone here... |

That statement is true in the sense that we cannot have an ideal society. I have not asked anyone to stop voting for their friends or what they like, I have only tried to temper their decision making by asking them to consider what has been done to the sig. I further said, you can chose to ignore this or put into consideration [in my first post]. To say this is a pointless thread after I have clearly made the above statement is you trying to start something I will be willing to finish. I havent called anyone out. If anyone feels affected about what I am saying then I can only call that guilty conscience. |

i agree with Kuro. you're trying to change the way how people think. and in a forum nonetheless. doing that isn't easy in real life, even if the person whose way of thinking you want to change is close to you. doing that in a forum is a bit impossible, even if you have a point in what you are saying
