I am a fan of The discovery channels Deadliest Catch, and capt Phil Harris was a big part of what made me like it, with his over bearing wit and stern demeanor. I just thought these guys should get props, because i've been tuna fishing near alaska (was a horrid vacation when I was 16) and it's fucking COLD!, I could only imagine what it would be like on the bearing sea. This has to be the hardest job in the world.
I too am going to miss Capt. Phil. He was a hell of a personality. Luckily there are enough colorful characters left to make it still worth watching, but it won't be the same. The tribute episode was cool.
Did them mention what he died of? Just curious. I saw the show maybe once or twice and it wasn't horrible to watch, somewhat interesting to see other professions.
