Default Desktop Makeover - 07-24-2010, 02:08 PM

So, I'm getting bored of my laptop. It's windows vuista, and getting 7 is not really an option. Looking in the post your desktop thread, I see a lot of you have cool mods and themes etc, you have a weather forecast on your desktop, cpu speeds, the icons in a special bar etc.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to mod mine to make it look sexy? Everything I usually try makes it run slower or doesn't look neat. I'll warn you in advance, I'm quite a minimalist. I don't like a lot of icons ont he desktop.

So, I have lots of free time this evening, so is anyone willing to direct me to a good site, or give me a guide on how to do it? Screenshots of what it would look like will be appreciated.

tl;dr: Want me desktop to look nicer, halp pl0x.

Yes, this is why I specified I'm on vista in my above post. Switchign to 7 isn't really an option.

a lot of the stuff you see is probably "rainmeter" and "rainlendar" skins.

IMO all these programs that make your desktop look nicer will slow your system down on weaker machines.

Rather. Anything added to your computer will slow it down. Even if a powerful machine if you add enough shit to it it'll slow down too. Everything's relative ^_^

Besides the stuff already mentioned I use Rocketdock. Really handy and looks good. I prefer it over objectdock.
