Default Japanese Learners/Speakers - 12-12-2009, 12:26 AM

Well I'm gonna learn starting from next week, cause I waste a lot of my spare time. So what about the guys on here? Are you learning/fluent already? If so what did you use to learn and how easy/hard was it?

Why wouldnt you? I love the country and the culture. And you can't find time? There's always time, even if you have school. I do a medical degree

The department of east asian studies in our university is excellent, so we have a japanese society. I've met a few japanese people and partnered up with someone to help improve myself

I've got Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur. Rosetta Stone is kind of hard which made me give up on it for the time being, but I plan to go back to it after I'm done with Pimsleur. The thing I like most about Pimsleur is that it can be loaded onto an ipod so you can learn anywhere.

Currently I'm about halfway through Japanese I, but they get into doing addition with Japanese numbers and telling time right about there, and I felt like my head was gonna burst so I'm currently taking a break from it.

One of my favorite things is in one of the Pimsleur lessons. You get to listen to this guy trying to pick up a girl, and the dude just keeps on going no matter how many times the girl says no. It gets to the point where he progresses out of "pick up" territory almost into "being led away in handcuffs" territory. I spent more time laughing at that lesson than learning, but then again I was able to understand the entire conversation, so I must've learned something.

First, that is the funnest gif I have ever seen! Second, learning Japanese would be great, since it would be nice to translate my own anime instead of someone else. However, I wish I had more time to devote in learning. I do have some audio learning school type stuff but nothing beats a living breathing person to teach you.. one day...
