UMG knows that we are going to compete with them via our own music venture called Megabox.com, a site that will soon allow artists to sell their creations direct to consumers and allowing artists to keep 90% of earnings.
We have a solution called the Megakey that will allow artists to earn income from users who download music for free. Yes that’s right, we will pay artists even for free downloads. The Megakey business model has been tested with over a million users and it works. You can expect several Megabox announcements next year including exclusive deals with artists who are eager to depart from outdated business models.
No wonder the old media companies would have pressured the government to shut them down at this point.
Yeah Its pretty lame. Megaupload was my main direct download site other than mediafire I hope @least mediafire stays up. But now I dont have any fast direct download sites to download anime from on this site.
Fileserve :: Uploaded :: Filesonic :: Crocko :: Uploading :: FileJungle :: Bitshare are all less than 150kb for me :|with megaupload always hanging around 900kb-1mb

Sucks because I had a premium membership. Loved Megaupload. Seems Fileserve is pretty popular around here. How's the D/L speed with a FS premium membership?

Like I said in the SOPA thread, this is exactly what the media companies are trying to do, maintain control over the media industry by destroying the ability of artists to distribute their works independently.
For now we can only hope that MU's owners can mount a strong legal case in their defense and eventually come back online.

I've had premium memberships on all of the big filesharing sites.. Megaupload was by far the best and the only one I would re-subscribe.. Sweet.. out $30 and 6 month gone.
