No need to worry, there are lots of megaupload alternatives out there. I've spent some time to research and compile this list. Megaupload was one of the best file hosting sites, fast speeds, unlimited downloads during happy hours, large storage limits, etc. I lost a lot of files including school and work documents. I made a list of real alternatives to megaupload. I only listed sites with minimal restrictions for downloading, large storage limits, and high popularity/reliability. The Alexa rank is an indicator of how popular a site is, I included it to distinguish the popular/reliable sites from new unproven file hosting sites.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: 500GB storage space, unlimited parallel downloads, can resume broken downloads, download accelerator support
Restrictions: 1GB file size limit
Other positives: No CAPTCHA, no timer, remote http upload, FTP upload
Alexa rank: (4837) friend introduced me to this site last month, great features, still using them today.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited storage space
Restrictions: 2GB file size, no file manager, only 1 download at a time (no parallel downloading)
Other positives: No CAPTCHA, no timer
Alexa rank: (22284) not as popular as the other sites here but they are seemingly owned by the makers of the popular Download Accelerator Plus.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited parallel downloads, can resume broken downloads, download accelerator support
Restrictions: 1GB file size limit, no file manager
Other positives: No CAPTCHA, no timer, can search files
Alexa rank: (3307) I love being able to search the files at this site and you can "watch" what files are being downloaded.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited storage space
Restrictions: 1GB file size limit, 50 seconds timer, only 1 download at a time, download accelerator support
Other positives: No CAPTCHA, no timer
Alexa rank: (1937) one of the oldest file hosting sites online since 2005, still using them today.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited storage space, up to 2 parallel downloads, can resume broken downloads
Restrictions: 300MB file size limit, have to enter ReCAPTCHA to download
Other positives: No timer
Alexa rank: (2576) got a nice file manager, I don't use them that much now after they started requiring ReCAPTCHA to download files.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited storage space
Restrictions: 500MB file size limit, only 1 download at a time
Other positives: No CAPTCHA, no timer
Alexa rank: (1385) downloads are limited and slow but they have Android and iPhone apps available for their site.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Benefits: Unlimited storage space, unlimited parallel downloads, can resume broken downloads, download accelerator support
Restrictions: 200MB file size limit
Other positives: Fast downloads, I can max out my 6mbps DSL!
Alexa rank: (66) the next biggest file hosting site after megaupload, very popular and trusted by many users around the world, I upload to here regularly.

If you know of any other file hosting site with below 5000 Alexa ranking, minimal download restrictions, and large storage space, let me know so I can update this list. Real alternatives and free user friendly sites only, not sites like rapidshare with 5 minute timers and hours of wait time between downloads.

That's what you get for having servers in "the land of the free"...LOL
Either Kim the Snorlax was dumbass or didn't grease right people..only third option is that he was a scape goat.

My MU premium account will be sorely missed. Glad I've only been buying 3 months at a time. I'd never go for a lifetime account on any filehost, especially after this.

A big difference that Megaupload has compared to those filehosts are that Megaupload had a WAY faster speed.

& Mediafire deletes copy right material very quickly, They're also working with the FBI atm.

A LOT of people have been bitching and talking about this file host.
Let ME clear up a few things about this filehost since topics and discussions and suggestions about it are arising everywhere, Not only on animetake but other anime related download sites as well.

First of all, this site is an ONLY anime site. Therefore the possibilities of other files uploaded like movies, tv shows, songs, drama's and etc WON'T be added (Of course that's only if the admins and moderates on that site moderate it well since files can easily be re-named.. ._.)

Now this brings it to the conclusion that a lot of non-anime related sites WON'T be using this. What does this mean? Less server traffic and faster speeds for people.

Here's 1 thing I want everyone to know about filehosts (AFAIK Not 100% sure either but pretty sure this is how things work...).
The MORE people that are downloading and using it the SLOWER the server will go. Therefore the one key reason why DDLAnime has fast speeds is because ONLY anime downloads are using that site. The Drama, Movies, Tv show's people won't be using this site.

Now, I'm pretty sure I know why Commander A WON'T be using this filehost.
1. As of now, They only have a few servers which means IF animetake does start hosting their files there, it's a possibility that the amount of extra traffic it receives will make download speeds slower. This just rotates and comes back to the point where people complain about how slow it is.

2. They have stated in their FAQ & Recent news that they WILL be having a affiliate program BUT they're paying as minimum as possible and lower than other filehosts. They say they're motto is "Quality over Business and it provide people with the best speeds and whatever possible".
Now I'm not against them or anything but I call bullshit. I think that they DO want to make money and are just tricking people to upload to this site for their own business by paying uploaders less. I mean, If they really wanted the best " Quality" then why are their speeds 300kb/s on average? That maybe a lot to some people but to me that's pretty damn low. Compared to fileserve and megaupload it's waaay low.

tldr; DDLAnime might not be as good as it look's & if you like to bitch and whine about download speeds switch to torrents. If you say torrents are slow, then stop bitching and whining about filehosts and get a faster internet.

DDLAnime could become a bigger thing though. Think Batoto, it started out small, now it's a fairly big site. Even us at Japanzai have upgraded our servers a couple of times. Don't forget that to make more money, they need more traffic, and thus if they don't upgraded their servers, their maximum income will be servery limited. If I had the knowledge, I would create a hosting site for anime and manga too, but won't offer any restrictions etc or awards, just be an open host, so the FBI can suck their hairy tiny balls as I don't have any control over what it's being used for.

I super like their fast response to support mails

For curiosity I mailed them by asking your questions and linking your post, here is their reply.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us on behalf of the concerned user.

We started as a Anime-only filehost on purpose. We wanted a filehost for animes only to provide best quality service to anime fans as "we" were leechers as well and know how much of a problem it is for people without good torrent speed and after MU shutdown.
Another reason is, being a anime-only filehost makes us more durable than any other filehost as you may know all DMCA and file takedown crisis occurs due to hollywood and rich companies filing cases, on other hand, anime still isnt as popular worldwide as Movies and Games and so people don't have enough money to do DMCA requests or pay Int. Gov. to sue a filehost. Only company that has such premises is Funimation, and still even Funimation needs to abide by Int. DMCA policy and safe harbour law as we don't have any servers in US or such concerned countries.

We will and WONT allow anything except anime (maybe dorama and hentai in future) on our servers, thats why we have upload limits for anons to keeps bots and spammers away.

As per service, you can count of our service quality as we will not limit connections and speed for any user or usergroup. And as you said, the more people download, the server will go slow, but unlike others, we are not money hungry and the people who joined us in Beta tests knows it better.

70% money earned through premium accounts or any method uses goes in our infrastructure and rest 20% in updates and adding more features. 10% is saved as backup incase anything goes wrong or we need huge amount of funds for some reason, I don't think its selfish ?

Right now we have 6 Quad core servers connected to 1Gbps line and serve 10-15k downloads a day with around 100k connections to server daily yet each server hardly reaches 20%~ server load,

Why ? Answer is simple, rather than using cheap Dual core servers and increasing quantity, we use Quad cores and Xeon servers with top notch requested hardware. We don't want to increase quantity.

Also, we keep getting more and more traffic and we keep on expanding, we had 4 servers till 7th Feb, we added 2 more in last 2 days even though just 25% of our resources were used, we had the funds from premiums accounts so we expanded and added even streaming support now.

Paying low is obvious, right now 60% traffic is Asian and no adcompany pays good money for it. We cant use adsense and won't use clicksor or adult ads or fill site with popups or such shitty ads.
We didn't even wanted to have a reward program as without it, the people who upload for quality and as a passion will use us, we dont want spammers or people who only upload for money.
Yet we decided to have a rewards program with decent rates to let everyone earn something.

When our traffic and adnetwork revenue is good or we have enough premiums that we think even we can support good rates, we will increase payrates. But letme remind you, we are a anime only filehost and if we start paying for it publicly, any Gov can easily know that we are paying users to upload Copyrighted stuff publicly by freewill.

We need to think a strategy for it. We don't want to become like FSC or WU who used to pay superb but were crap for any person not having premium.

Till now in just 14 days, we have 1500 active members, 8k files uploaded and have served 70k downloads without any affiliate program and still increasing.

300Kbps speed avg ? Is it upload or download, we don't have a official thread at AT so can't reach users there but it shouldn't be so. We have no speed limits on downloads or uploads whatsoever.

It will be more better and easy to reach the users if the concerned user can ask us directly via mail or the staff at the public forum can allow us a official discussion thread.

Thank You

Anyone else find it strange that DDLAnime has a 100mb file size limit?.
Most anime I've seen is anywhere from 175-350 megabytes and that's just tv releases.
