Exclamation Everything about SOPA & PIPA Σ(゜д゜;) - 11-16-2011, 11:27 AM

Apparently, Congress is holding a hearing today about an American Internet Censorship System.

Should this go into effect, most of us can kiss our hoo-ha's goodbye. Many sites will be unavailable due to infringement.

Animetake may become a "blocked" site for those of us in the U.S.. You posted a piece of the lyrics to a song on Facebook? Red lights flashing. Youtube? Their going to have a field day with this. You want free anime and music? You receive the scraps that the publishers give you. Remember reading manga online? Time to buy a physical copy and translate it yourself.

Also, many sites that are currently following the "order" of the DMCA will be in hot water.

So many things come about from this restriction and preemptive prosecution. The mere thought that this is reaching the Senate has me wondering, "WTF?!"

Anyway, before I get carried (even more) away with my suspicions, conspiracies, and retaliation thoughts, I think I'll stop here.

THIS IS THE THING YOU WANT TO CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ ALL OF THESE FUNNY-LOOKING SYMBOLS THAT FORM WORDS!!!

This thingie we call a link here ==>[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

You say that, but if it works out in america, there's probably a good chance that media companies over here will start lobbying for it as well.

I mean I'm not sure what happened with it in the end, but we've already had them try to push that digital economy bill through, which seems pretty similar to this.

How many times have these bills been proposed and whatnot? Every couple of months someone creates a thread like this, people shit bricks, and in the end nothing happens.

"If this law passes, sites like Tumblr and Facebook could be shut down for letting users post freely. Join the protest to stop it."

Yeaaaaaaahhhhh ok.
