Default Keitai "Japanese mobile" - 10-06-2011, 03:30 PM

I wonder if any here have a Japanese mobile?

I own a black Sharp SH-10C myself, 16.1MP CCD camera, 3D touch and flip screen, waterproof. It takes excellent photos for a phone.

Most of them are flip phones with tunable screen of some kind, very advanced cameras.

Decent keitai. I'm not in touch since 931SH.

I was a SoftBank fan until Iphone, since then they don't have too much chance in my eyes. I always interested in keitai and i think i know the Japanese mobile industry well. They need the fighting spirit to get back on the international market. They can (or could) the same as Samsung do or better, but they wasted their time on the easier way and stayed in Japan. I know they had a bad story in the past, but it's ended because they gave up so easily and don't learn from the mistakes. If they won't try again there is a risk they will disappear easier not just keitai, but as a relatiively successful component manufacturer.

My fav from KDDI:

I`m an iPhone 4 user. under contract with Softbank.
Actually I don`t really like Softbank due to it`s low reception signal at my place, but Softbank offers the best bang/buck, so I went for it.
well Japan`s iphone is just the same with other iP.

Yes, it is a total shame that they only focused and LOCKED in Japan. I had a walk around in town with my SH-10C, many people are interested even in UK. If they are to enter the international market, I am sure they will still have a fighting chance as long as they don't lock down too many functions.

I don't see too much chance for global expansion. I talked about this with a guy from YRP and i saw an interview on itmedia with the ceo of the NEC phone division (not long after they teamed up with Casio-Hitachi). The NEC guy just lists his excuses about why they shouldn't come out. They are (or were) in Korea, named as CanU, and in US with few Casio phones, but those phones are far from the technology of their Japanese offer. On the other hand, the developer didn't see any chance for it too, because they aren't enough brave or something like this. Well, maybe Sharp can do it. They have some experience with the Chinese market.

You can't unlock the phones to be able to use them to make calls outside of Japan?
That's a shame.
That red KDDI looks damn sexy.

There's this special simcard that attaches to your using one, so it could work outside of Japan but I'm not sure if it is reliable

My SH-10C is software unlocked, no longer needing a hypersim to use outside Japan.

Free rotating decent camera?

Do want.

Would be perfect for taking photo of...appropriate...regions.
