Ipad would be more useful for manga. Larger screen the better; so you can see the whole page with out scrolling around zoomed in. Also you can use it for other stuff.

Kindle's not bad for reading scanlations if you don't want your eyes to melt from staring at computer screen all night. But yeah, small screen.. so best for less detailed art.

I prefer Manga... but you can't deny that when you have shelves and shelves of books that the space saved by an Ebook reader helps...

I have one friend that has a Kindle and it looks nice but you cant see it in the dark or low light situations and it's pretty expensive.

Another friend has a 7 inch Android that he imported and it's bright and the perfect handheld size like the kindle AND you can play games on it for the same price but the readers are all programs, either photo viewers or dedicated comic and book readers which vary in quality (visual tweaks that make comics easier to read in some but not in others or poorly design interfaces).

Another friend has an iPad and it's really just an over priced version of what everyone else is making now. You're just paying for the name and the proprietary Apple lifestyle. Don't get me wrong it's high quality but you can spend 200 less and get something just as good with Android... plus it's kinda oversized really and you kinda fear it being snatched out of your hand outside the house.

I'd say if you like scanslations my friend's EM73 generic 7inch Android table can be had for 175 after shipping if you know where to look. I don't know much about purchasing manga on Kindle but it'll show scans as well and might be a really good choice if you read as many novels as you do manga, and the ipad, if you've got the cash or live the lifestyle you've probably already purchased it and are waiting for it to arrive.

But if you got the space (or know a store where you can sell them off later for cash) I'd stick with Manga.

I use my Kindle sometimes.
It can be very troublesome with small text or detailed art.
You can solve the reading in the dark issue by buying the protective case that has a light on it but in ordinary room light or bright sunlight it is exactly the same as a real book.
The newest Kindle out costs £89.

Use mangle to convert your downloaded image files into a nice format for Kindle.

Of course nothing will compare to having the actual manga on your hands but since Im now a college student, who also lives in Italy, its hard to carry my manga collection with me (since I have..like over 200+) and I was thinking how I should just move on and get an e-reader. Which not sure which one to buy. Im thinking Ipad or Android and money isn't really an issue so yeah.

Btw thanks for all of the opinions. This helps a lot

e-readers? No. I prefer the actual thing as I'm a collector. I have dozens of volumes neatly stacked. I also read manga online but only because not all manga is available for purchase and I can't afford to keep buying them. For the most part I hate reading online cause it can strain your eyes, especially if its on a small screen and the scans are of mediocre quality...

Like Darkchao45, I'm a collector too so it has to be print. However there are a lot of out-of-print titles that cannot be purchased, not even used copies, that I've found in e-format, so I've got a Kindle. There are also titles like "Tired of Waiting for Love" by Saki Aida which are only available in electronic format, which is highly annoying to a bibliophile. As for not being able to read in the dark with a Kindle, you shouldn't be reading in the dark regardless of the device employed; use adequate lighting at all times, even with netbooks and laptops. Just because a handheld has greater illumination shouldn't mean carte blanche for fouling your eye sight. Common sense folks.
