Hmm... I'm not too sure. I DO hear that being an animator over in Japan is a fairly rigorous occupation. I truly wish that that there were more high-quality animators over here in the US that would actually start an anime that is not just simply geared towards the kids.

Here's some animated images that I've made...

my life goal is to open an animation studio strictly for experimental artists, but i'll probably never get enough money for that =( right now i'm doing freelance artwork/animation for flash game sites, wich is probably nothing compared to working on a series or movie with a team.

Everyone starts out small when they begin. I wish you the best of luck, and create something kool so we can post it here on animetake.

Studying animation in m'sia too. When relatives in Nigeria asks what im studying, there are waves of dissappointment rolling off em, lol. So don't feel too bad about it. Truth is quite alot of people dont think it's a stable job & that we should take more practical courses like finance, IT... U get my drift, right? Anyways, wat im tryna say is as long as it makes u happy. who knows, u might win the next animax competition & hit it big ;p

Totally understand what you mean lah! which is why animators (just like writers & co) in countries like ours need to be actively involved in contests and all. Also animators do well working from advertising firms (scripting commerials...) check most of the ads on tv, quite alot of them involve animation.. take example the digi ad (the one with the yellow duck) stuff like that. special effects for movies. its all about making it work for u

geez, i jus sounded like a guidance counsellor didnt i? back 2 skool 4 me... stupid mmu & their 3 week holidays...

I study in animation too...... Trust me, it's not a job for regular human.
If you think liking anime will bring goods for tis career, then you are wrong.
1 second of animation required at least 12 frame of drawing.
Plus coloring, cleaning, editing, timing, motion, and lotz.
I spend two or three day for traditional animation......
Even with proper software aid, such job is just too hard to be excel.
Lol, me still like study in animation. ^ ^

Nothing beat watching anime with a good bowl of popcorn!

Luckly being an animator doesn't require english I say do it, if you really really love it as others have said its tough work.

But that being said I'd much rather work a job I love and getting paid peanuts than work for some wank job executives at the cute animal slaughterhouse and getting paid $200000000000+.

But make sure you're good at it, otherwise you really can expect peanuts.
