The issue I'm not quite sure some people in this thread is grasping is that any sort of favorable ruling would set a precedent for similar lawsuits. So if they win the lawsuit against hotfile then they would turn around and sue megaupload, fileserve... etc down the list.
They realized that it's a complete waste of time to take down individual links to pirated movies or even entire websites. It's a never ending game of wack-a-mole with 10 new sites popping up to replace every site taken down.
Their solution is to solicit the IP address of any one caught uploading copyrighted materials to turn over to the countries police. International copyright laws are enforceable in virtually every country with a few notable exceptions, eg China.
That's looking at the worst possible outcome. Most likely hotfile will appeal endlessly dragging the suit out for years to come.
