Australian Customs and laptops

I heard that Australian Customs randomly examines people's laptop. If my laptop has these animes, does that mean I'll be penalized or arrested?

I don't know if they actually check your laptop as you pass through an airport,but I'd guess it would be highly unlikely, because scanning a hard drive can take hours especially if it is very big.

But Australian law doesn't really penalise if you just have simple porn, but highly deprived porn may be confiscated off of you, still no big deal though.

If you have Kiddy porn, well Australian law really hammers you there, anything that "Is" or "implies" the sexualisation of underage persons ie below 16 in any manner that may be intentionally sexual or not can get you arrested. You could even define a simple picture of a girl in a swim suit as kiddy porn if you have no reason to be holding on to it.

Given that Anime contains lots of questionable stuff, well...

But of course they only have these laws in case so they can get people that are obviously criminals, they don't like arresting everyone.

just keep it well hidden in tonnes of files and you should be sweet, make them hidden to be extra sure. but yer plmko pretty much covered it, its highly unlikely that Aus customs will check it.

the amount of people that pass through customs here with laptops is high and if they checked them all no one would get out.

They don't and can't check the content of your laptop without reason, that's invasion of privacy. they just make you take it out of the bag and put it through the x-ray thingy (doesn't seem to harm it) I've done it lots of times since i am australian.

How about anime's like Seikon no Qwaser and Ro-Kyu-Bu? Can I get in trouble for having this? And do they arrest for having copyrighted content downloaded free from the Internet?

Its done on a case by case basis. IIRC, if you look shifty or have a criminal record, you'll be more likely to be picked.

Just to be safe, have any of you got anime, tv series and/or mp3s in your laptop and the customs check it, saw it and let you go?

Why can't you just back-up all your porns and lolis in you HDD and delete everything in your laptop and later, when its cleared put it back in again? I'm pretty sure that they won't go as far as checking the HDD.
