Default Internet censorship/ISP filtering in Australia - 08-11-2011, 09:21 PM

So yeah... this went for couple of years, of introducing internet filtering and looks like Australia will head in directions of filtering.

This is an old news but yeah... just read it if your new to this. There are not a lot of articles out there so far and this is the one of the few that focus on this issue.

To sum up, although implementing the mandatory ISP filtering failed, the voluntary internet filter is on the way (planned to be implemented by July) as we're one step closer to censorship in internet for all Australians.
The ISPs that will filter voluntarily are: Telestra, Optus and IPrimus
Moreover, the filter is "only for child porn"...

Anyway, its already past July and I don't know if the filter is on the way now or not but its pretty dumb move as the filter can be bypassed easily with such as proxy.

Still, this dickhead wants to take control of the net by censoring our internet like China/Egypt. And we already have enough policies/laws that blocks all illegal contents etc.

Also, who actually surfs for "child porn"?? Unless the majority of people of search porn are pedophiles... I don't understand how this will "stop" people from contacting with illegal contents.

Seriously, this is so sad... like I don't feel like to live in Australia anymore.

P.S I'm not very known to this issue as I found out about this couple of days ago so please correct me if I'm wrong and also tell me if there is any updated information on this issue.

does this really surprise anyone who's actually read up on Australia. They happen to have one of the stiktest internet filters in the world. its almost as powerful as china's firewall, in fact i think they get a lot of the software from China.

Long live belgium \o/

We have other problems to handle, therefore they can't do anything about the internet yet.
