Hi guys. I'm from Bulgaria and I have a lot of friends that watch anime. However some of them don't know English and watch just the very few that gets subbed. The crappy part is that most of the subbers are doing the work just by themselves. For example - Naruto gets subbed in English. 5 guys get the episode, make a translation ASAP and fight who'll be the first to put it online. There are a lot of crappy mistakes in all of them. I tried to work with some of them as an editor, but they don't want this, because the result will be slower (or other reasons). So me and some of my friends want to make fansubs that are done Right! Calling Luffy "her" is not acceptable ^.^
So the question is how do we do that? There are a lot of programs out there and I'm very confused of what should I use to rip the subs out of the existing mkv file. What should I use to edit them (of course I can use Notepad, but some other sub programs checks if the length and the duration of the subs are okay)? What should I use to "integrate" them back in the mkv file?... also how can I make them from MKV into an AVI without losing much of the quality? Many players don't read the commentaries and karaoke properly. If I'm missing something I'll be glad to know. |

I am also from bulgaria / i use mkv extractgui to extract the subs and then notepad - i delete the english frases and then write bulgarian in their place finally , when everything is ready , mkv merge to combine the new subfile with the video file

And now in English? And there's a bunch of the staff in Subsgroups as well, me, Bele and WsE f.e. are in Hiryuu. and we've got more staff spread out over groups or doing multiple groups. And that's just the staff, not the userbase.
