The agency Production baobab announced on Friday that voice actress Tomoko Kawakami(due to ovarian cancer) passed away on Thursday, June 9 at 4:45 p.m. after a long bout with illness. She was 41.

Her major voice acting roles include Misuzu Kamio from Air, Athena Glory from Aria, Rosette Christopher from Chrono Crusade, Amber from Darker than BLACK, Hikaru Shindo from Hikaru no Go, Utena Tenjo from Revolutionary Girl Utena, Sayuri Kurata from Kanon.

She was also the voice of Furinji Miu in History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. I learned of her passing by a tweet on Asakawa Yuu's twitter account. May she rest in heavenly peace.

Also Soi Fon from Bleach, which I think is the only currently airing series that she was doing. Sad news.

That's very sad to hear, and so young too. She was also Soi Fon from Bleach, though I don't know if she still had that role, and also the girl from the Illusionary world in Clannad. May she rest in peace.

Cancer is never a good way to die. My condolences are with the grieving family.

I'll miss her voice acting, she always did play a good role. Soi Fon was a very recognizable voice.

Cancer's always a sad way to die. It's always sad to see that quite a lot of VAs suffer from cancer/illnesses. And it's also a shame too, so many other anime goals left unfulfilled. Rest well. I wonder if voice-actors talk to each other in heaven :O
