But if that happens other countries are more likely to step in and help Israel. Israel attacking Iran could be justified for them, as they are neighboring countries, it isn't for us as we're on the opposite side of the world, is what typical Americans probably think. But Israel is an ally, if they get attacked we would almost have to step in, simply to save face.

And before you flame me for that, please be aware that support for Taliban in Afghanistan is growing, to the extent that a fair amount of the British army expect the country to revert to Taliban rule fairly soon after the troops up and leave, so the last ten years was for what exactly? And don't talk to a British person about Iraq. We're still pissed that our then-PM gave the nod to Bush without consulting his own government/people first. Oh, and is the world a safer place thanks to the actions of the last decade? Just look at the pantomime and theatre at airports. The homeland security. The everybody-wanting-to-watch-everything online and in reality. If I book a flight to the US, part of the data share agreements lets feds rummage around my bank history to see if I'm a supporter of terrorist regimes as defined by America, etc. Yeah, this feels like a much safer world. The news last night quoted America basically saying it has run out of plausible options for helping the Syrians. Gee, took you guys less to invade Iraq. Or was that oil rather than humanitarian reasons acting as the motivation? There's nothing for America in Syria so America isn't really interested? [plus the Israelis really don't much like the Syrians [it's mutual]] Sure, Slush, we around the world might be faggots. It might help, however, to take your country's foreign policy, add two and two together, and see what you end up with. d. |
