Is downloading from the links in AT a crime?

Today, I've been given advices by my friends not to download animes. I feel so tensed up for these news. Friends of theirs have downloaded animes in the past and they have been caught by some organisation. I don't know if it's Funimation. Once caught, they've been fined 1k dollars or some even went up to 4k dollars.

Therefore, I'm asking here, Is downloading from megaupload or other download servers a crime that could lead me to this route?

If so, I have to abandon anime download and go for streaming....

have they actually been fined? ive been warned a bunch of times lol, but im pretty sure they cant do shit without a warrant, basically depends where you live and what laws are in place and how cool your ISP is, theyre obliged to warn you, but they will never give out your IP/personal information(unless theyre fuck heads), so you're safe. DDL's are basically untraceable, they cant catch u for that.

i don't think they would go out of their way and catch small fries like us. besides downloading from sites like MU is more safer than torrents where they could actually trace and track you. the only way you could get caught from sites like MU is when your internet service provider or MU itself sell you out.

depending on where u live or what country u live on , i came from southeast asia country where there no specific rules about illegal internet dwnlding/streaming animes
but yea if u felt bad then u can buy the original ,anime site such this just to make fans easier to watch the latest show where it could take more than 3 months to reach their country, cheers mate ^^
