I just want to inform you guys about today's attack by North Korea towards South Korean civilians. Many of you know this since it was world news but I just want to get opinions on it. Also, sorry for my bad english if some sentences does not make sense.



Apparently, North fired dozens of artillery shells (the media said 50, 70, 150??) towards Yeonpyeong island (just off border line, west of mainland). In return, South Navy ships retaliate by firing 50 or so shots back to North artillery/cannon bunker. The casualties of South were: 2 soldiers dead and 20 injured and civilian casualties are still unknown.
The population of Yeonpyeong island is around 1500. 200 were managed to escape the island while others are still in the island, taking shelter at emergency shelters (they have no electricity, limited food and help right now)

The South Korean president ordered state of emergency as he took it as north invading south and ALL millitary personnels/soldiers were called up to handle the situation. If north attacks again, south will fight back and thus another Korean war might occur (but it is very unlikely to happen)

North and South had several military conflict before such as bombings, attempt of assasination of South president, shooting down korean air etc... but this one is far worse as north targeted innocent CIVILIANS this time costing lives and casualties.

Meanwhile, in regarding to this attack, North said (in the media): "If South invades 0.001mm of north land, we will not hold back and commence full-scale attack on south" Such provocation and imitation made many South angry and raged.

Also, just to tell you that North IS ready for a war against South. They have stationed artilleries near the border that can hit Seoul and other close cities, missiles staioned targething South navy ships, nukes etc...

You know, I'm here at South Korea right now because of holiday and pretty much after the attack occured EVERYONE is scared that there might be another war after 6.25 (Korean war). Even I'm scared since we don't know what North will do next. North and South is in ARMISTICE after 6.25 which means a war can occur at any time.

Okay, I just want to hear your opinions about it... it is a world news you know... however, there won't be WWIII because right now Russia, China and America's interest is economy (not military stuff).
You know the best solution is to unite but, I highly doubt it would happen judging by today's attack.

No large scale wafare will happen. Just some world critisism and more sanctions against the North. Things like that happened all the time. Just the tactics are changing. For a war to brake down a massive invasion, an all out war or nuclear bombing should happen.
