I have lived long enough to see many things. From the slightly odd to the down right bizarre.
But today marks the first time I have ever seen an internet service provider give something away for free. And not just something useless. My provider doubled my download/upload speeds free of charge. I first thought "ya right. free for the first 3 moths then WHAMO!"
But I was wrong. They even supplied the new modem free of charge.

Lets face it service providers want to squeeze every last wooden nickle out of us that's possible without relying on leg breakers. I always figured that it was only a matter of time before they used those as well.

So for all those out there that are stuck in a place that has a provider that has an absolute monopoly on this type of service, have faith. Cause stranger things have happened.

Now if only I could talk them out of a T1 line.

My ISP back at home has done that. Twice. And it had an absolute monopoly back then.

Awesome! I wonder if I'll be able to book cheap flights to hell. I'd love to go skiing there!

I've had this happen 2-3 times. Always used the same provider. One day to another I would notice my speed increasing when downloading, then a few days after I would receive a letter saying my internet has been upgraded since they don't deal smaller connections no more. It seems to be a valid reason, but hell, shit is free too <3

That's cool for you. Usually we gotta complain about speeds before we get anything nice like a discount or upgraded speed.

Back in the days of dial-up we had this free AOL CD. Gave us a 60 day trial or something. At the end of it, we called 'em up told them we wanted to cancel our service cause it was slow. They insisted we give them another couple of months to try it... for free.
We did that for roughly 12 months. :3
