Default Japanese TV Schedule: How to read them? - 10-10-2010, 03:50 PM

Well I've seen the fall anime listing and saw that some numbers are in a way new to me. for example,

there's this, 24:30 CTC (10/3) , or even 25:35 TX (10/3) and even 26:00 MX

is there any methods on reading these numbers? From an outsider point of view I can't relate to 24 hrs system. How does one read these?

below is an example of the schedule.

Apparently, the Japanese have become so efficient that they've added two more hours to the day.

It's just their way of indicating hours past midnight; so 24:30 would be 12:30 AM, instead of 0:30, and 26:00 would be 2:00 AM. Can't really tell you why they don't change the date though.

itasha is right. It's in the technical note.

All times are given in a 24-hour, relative-day format where times are extended to show which day they belong to. For instance, Friday morning at 1:30AM would become Thursday at 25:30 to show that the episode aired late Thursday night.

So that's why the times are weird. What about those CTC, MX? channels?

time is in 24 hour clock. So 22:00 is 10:00pm its their time you would have to figure out the time difference for where you live. And the Letters are the channels, usually abbreviated.
