Which games to you like and what not?

First castlevania game I remember playing was Circle of the moon for GBA, so that would probably be my favorite.

I also really liked the one where you played as alucard, but I can't remember what it was called.

I also found that while these games where good, any time they tried to move out of being 2d platformers it became un-appealing to me, but I only remember playing old attempts at this, do tell if theres any others you would recommend I play.

EDIT: also found it allot more appealing when they contained rpg elements(gear, level ups, etc.)

The one with Alucard is Symphony Of The Night in PSX. that my fav.

If you got a Nintendo DS, you might like Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia. those are all 2D side scrolling games, with lots of RPG elements. i love all of those games.

if you have a ps3 or Xbox360, your gonna love the New Castlevania Lords of Shadow! coming late this year, its a 3D game

my favourite is symphony of the night..i dont like 3d castlevania's n other 2d one's which the main characters are always a belmont carrying a whip like thing instead of sword and a shield like alucard does in SON

you havend played Order of Ecclsia on DS then?
You can wield 2 weapons just like SoTN.

I love the soundtrack to this series. I haven't played many of the games though, just Order of Ecclesia and Portrait of Ruin.

Downloaded the Lords of Shadows trailer and that game looks cool.

Symphony of the Night owns all other Castlevania games, and any other game in the genre. I still have my ps1 game... one of my treasures.

Castlevania in 3D sucks. Any and all of them. Give me the DS games over them any day.

Like many people Symphony of the Night is without a doubt my favorite. I think Castletvania is one of those series best left in 2-D thus far. I did like Lament of Innocence but give me a side scroller any day of the week.
