Let's go from the PS1 era to current times, since a lot of games from the NES period were hardcore... like no checkpoints, one save spot in a dungeon in RPGs and stuff like that... so, what's the most difficult game you've played?

For me, it was Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox. To further justify my case, it was voted by a few videogame magazines (when they existed) as the hardest game of the year when it came out.

Groups of enemies didn't "take turns" fighting you, and if you let your guard down for one second you'd get slaughtered. The first boss in the game was as difficult as the last boss in most other games. And I feel like I just got lucky beating the last boss after getting my ass spanked a dozen times.

try playing any touhou on lunatic and tell me that another game is difficult.

Hardest game that I've played that I can remember was a game called Silent Steel it was damn hard I played this game years ago I only wish I could find now to try and beat the damn thing

Super mario for GB. Why? I couldn't save and had to beat it in one sitting with limited battery power.

Other than that, I have not encountered a game that is too difficult to beat.

I litterly had to use AR-Max to get past the rest of the game.

Melee is the most difficult game for me to master. There's too many advance moves. As for a difficult game to beat? Non, I really haven't played a challenging game before...I don't think they exist.
