Might as well restart some conversation on this thread by presenting this from my earlier summary of Shiki Tohno and his abilities.

Well, technically Melty blood is the sequel to Tsuki so I guess you can talk about that too.

Let's see, if we want to fully analyze this, we have to assume that Akiha's "route" is the final true end to Tsuki.

I think we don't really see much of that use of the eyes in melty blood because...well...tohno tends to be "weaker" when he uses his eyes but with the help of Nanaya it's a different story.
Also, melty blood is a fighting game so different attacks and different styles must be portrayed for each character and with that kind of aspect Tohno will/become INVINCIBLE~!. Ok maybe not but it's too powerful, besides it didn't have enough impact on the story IMO. You have to remember melty was originally a doujin game so yeah countless misses did take place.
