Default Civilization V - 06-24-2009, 04:03 AM

I am a fan of the Civilization series, but I have merely gotten into the PC branch of it with Civilization IV when I became intrigued with Civilization: Revolutions. Thinking that the PC version would be what this type of game is designed, I bought Civilization IV: Gold and I became engrossed instantly. This is truly my type of game wherein it exemplifies great mechanics for strategy and it is the Holy Grail for all those who love the feeling of being a person in power. The fanbase also does generally well at coding; thus, though the game and its official mods may not suit you, I am sure that, if you search, you will find at least one coder who has exactly what you want in terms of the leaders to play, what you feel that is needed in terms of add-ons such as whether you care for having revolutions within your civilization or not, etc. It has been 4 or so years since Civilization IV was released. What would you want on Civilization V and what would you want improved from its predecessor? Do you want a create-your-own-leader mode? Do you want a create-your-own-civilization mode? Etc.

I want it to become much more complicated again. I love Civ, have done ever since the very first one. The 2nd was the best imo, since that was before they started dumbing it down for the mainstream.

It's too easy to do well with minimal effort now. I want a tech tree the size of Civ 3 at least (IV had a horribly small tech tree imo compared to its predecessors, making each game alot shorter )

Create leader/civilzation modes would be baaad, because you could just select the 2 best traits and would destroy the balance the game has, which wouldn't be good. I'm happy enough being able to rename all the leaders/civilizations to whatever you want before you start a game.

Civ: Rev was awful btw. Being able to finish a game in 2 hours is real fail, silly them dumbing it down majorly due to console gamers not having much of an attention span apparently.

I'm baaaack after my hiatus, anyone miss me?

As long as they change the fact that embarrassing lower tech (spear men, mace men, etc) could defeat units like infantry and cavalry. I stopped playing Civ 4 when my tanks were repeatedly destroyed by people THROWING bombs. I'm no tank operator, but it seems that all you would need to do would be farther than maybe 20 yards and that would cease to be a problem.

You kidding that was part of the fun, remember keeping some legionares handy back in CIV2 simply because they looked cool and they could still beat some higher tech units sometimes.

Was gutted whenever a cool unit got upgraded lol.

HAHA YES! I remember that, Civ 2 was soooo the best in the series. Great Library + Leonardos Workshop = auto ownage, dispite units not looking so cool.
