Default Ghost Recon:Future Soldier - 08-18-2011, 08:48 AM

I have been waiting for this game as soon as I heard word of it in late 2010. To me Ghost Recon is 1 of the closest games to true modern warfare that is so fun to play with friends. The fact that it's based around working as a team instead of COD where you just run and shoot, this you require a team who are willing to work together. What do you think? Are you looking forward to this game? What is it about this game that attracts you the most?

ARMA2, right now(with ACE2 and/or PR), is the closest to true modern warfare.

After I played ARMA2, I feel no need to play any other modern-ish military shoot-them-up arcady game, not even BF3.

Don't forget - Operation Flashpoint, since they have the same makers (if you've tried it) .

Regarding Ghost Recon however, I agree with you. It is among one of the most realistic asymmetric warfare games out there. If I'm not mistaken, Arma (Armed assault) and Operation Flashpoint are more focused out in the field (with tanks and stuff), whereas Ghost Recon's main focus is in Urban Areas. It's all a matter of taste, I suppose.

But yeah... I'm looking forward to this game.

I know OPFP is from the same maker, but it is old and still misses a lot of things.

Arma 2 by itself also fails to deliver the realism I look for. However, ACE2 and PR(soon to be released) can do it. Plus, zombie mod on Arma 2 is epic.

What I did not like about both Ghost Recon and Arma2 is that both have the third person viewpoint...I find it unrealistic to be able to look around corner without exposing anything(thankfully it can be turned off).

In the end, I would play Ghost Recon if I wanted a fast paced shooter(imo); but for realism I would definitely not get Ghost Recon(I never drive/pilot vehicles in Arma2 either, I just like to be able to ride in the passenger seat in a BMP and shoot the outside enemies, or use the fastropes...which every BF2PR players want). Besides, you have the HUGE number of modders in the community supporting ARMA2 already, and can have urban areas as well as rural areas at the same time and people fighting in both places. The sandbox feel of Arma2 is unmatched. Every CAS/Mortar/idiot driving APC next to your comrade who has a RPG event is purely organic thanks to the AI(or soon, real players; as Project Reality mod will be released).

So I am kind of looking forward to playing a little of Ghost Recon, but not planning on spending any more than a total of 5 hours in my life on it.

One thing I like about Tom Clancy's games is that he implements technological devices that are currently under development. Take for instance Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (the hud display in front of the eye) - that concept is taken and inspired by the "LAND WARRIOR" concept. If you used to play GhostRecon in 2001, or the first splintercell, you'll definitely remember one of the OICW, which was clearly a hightec weapon at that time. Now comes Future Soldier trailer, introducing technological prototypes such as the BLEEX and Hal 5, as well as the Japanese invisibility cloak concept.

This really psyches me up !!! I'm looking forward to this game, most definitely.
