Default Gaming System vs. Computer Games - 06-14-2009, 03:45 AM

Ok, I got about 4 bills(400) to spend at max for a game system and I can't find any good games for my 4 year old mac... This thread is a debate on what you like and dislike about any gaming console and an educational experience for me since I have been out awhile.
1) PS3,Ps2 and sony play station
2) Xbox 360
3) Wii
4) Other

Which is better for RPG, shooters, etc. Graphics, longevity of the game, just an overall satisfaction of your purchase... whatever... I NEED YOUR HELP!!!! any info good or bad on these systems will be a great help. Thank you!

xbox 360 for networking online and shooters ( has great games all around).
playstation 3 for graphics and blu ray... meaning this system is best for 1 player fps and other "local" multiplayer games as well as anything that looks spectacular
wii for all around fun with friends and family. lacking in both what the 360 and ps3 have to offer. But bringing a sense of "local" togetherness.

If you don't have a hi-def tv, i would recommend a Wii as it doesn't really matter

I agree with r1f7. For having fun with friends, the Wii is the best; and for playing solo, x360 or ps3 are your options... for budget I will go for x360, but for quality of the console and games, ps3.
the best of anything is the pc though.... hehe

go with ps3.

i have both and ps3 games are simply better imo. You'll miss out on a few like halo 3 but its overplayed by now anyhow.

Plus when it comes to networking, PS3 is free unlike xbox360. So long as you have internet which im assuming you do since your on here.

Depending on what type of genres you like to play most/best.

I personally like the PS3.

The ps3 network is rumored to begin a fee, this maybe mistaken. However, while the PS3 has amazing graphics and an all around amazing presence i still play 360 more. Owning all 3 systems 360 is my top favorite, merely because i play cod 4 religiously

If you're a fan of RPG games I would suggest a ps3 (some are backwards compatible with ps2 games, all are compatible with ps1)

I'm a big fan of rpg's and I think the best of them are on the ps2 for now. Too bad my ps3 won't play em
Sony started removing backwards compatibility with ps2 games on their ps3's "to make the console cheaper" Rumor has it they'll allow some back-compat via firmware upgrade and software downloads (emulation like the 360 does)

I bought a 360 but ended up giving it to my little bro.

PS: if you aren't a big gamer and just want the occasional random amusement, the Wii is probably your best bet. Its games are fun and relatively simple, and with 400 you can get a pretty extensive collection of games. (as compared to 360 or ps3)

"Life is a riot!"
Try saying that 10,000 times a day!
You'll go really insane and forget all your worries!
