Default Everytime you play a game, do you read a walkthrough?? - 06-14-2011, 01:42 AM

Just curious, yet, another interesting question.

Basically, do you guys read walkthroughs whenever you play a new/already owned game??

I'm talking about ANY games though, mainly RPGs and in ANY platforms (PS3, XBOX, DS, PC etc...)

For me, I usually read them whenever I start a new RPG game (in PS3) just to clear the game in "perfect", unlock all achievements etc...

Though, lately I found out that its an hassle to read walkthrough EVERYTIME you play a game. Surely, you would not memorize the walkthrough in one go so I'm pretty sure most of you who reads the walkthrough, reads it couple of times whenever you play the game. Also, unless your TV is right next to your PC, it would be darn pain in the ass to read and play and read and play and move around just to read the damn walkthrough (Unless you print the whole damn walkthrough like a report XD)

Moreover, I've been thinking that maybe reading a walkthrough would ruin your gameplay?? like is it actually worth it to read the walkthrough and finish the game in one go (100% perfect)?

I would like to hear some opinions about this from expert gamers in here. Or tell us what you do when you play a game.

P.S Sometimes, when I read a walkthrough while playing a game (mostly RPGs) I kind of get tired of playing the game for some reason... is this an normal reaction?? lol

I ussually dont read walkthroughs cus it ruins the game for me. I like the thrill of findnig things out myself, but when i rage and cant find a certain weapon or somethin of the kind i read about it.

I usually get the games so early that there's no walkthroughs yet so it's not like I have the option to spoil the game for myself ^^

On a side note, I think this should probably be in the gaming section not General discussion...

usually i finished the game first without any guide, then play on 2nd playthrough (new game+) with walkthrough for secrets, or read walkthrough when close to final boss and explore from the beginning to find all secrets.

but yes it becomes such a hassle, so kinda stop reading walkthrough.
the only game that i read walkthrough fully 100% with all secrets was wild arm 5.

now i m becoming too lazy and tired to get all (100%) secrets, achievement, etc etc.
so i just want to know the main story and try to finish the game as quickly as possible and move on to the next games, dont care about secrets anymore becoze too many games, but little time.

I don't read any walkthroughs unless i'm literally stuck somewhere in the game. Getting 100% or perfect in a game sounds nice and everything but the process takes too much time and it is a pain in the butt. I do what Vanity does and just complete the main story first.

i do use walkthrough in FFVIII before, well at least i know where the best place to train, and all my PC trained up to lvl 99 before heading for final battle with the soccerer (i dunt remember the bitch name, what was it??)

when u use walkthrough sometimes u will getting boring with the game, coz it like spoiler... yet i do use it when playing SD Gundam games... just to get more money, more exp, and more unlockable CG and movies...

I think your right about the spoiler part... God no wonder it was damn boring -_-;;;

Anyway, I think I should stop looking at walkthrough. Like the guys said above, I should just play it through and if there is any difficult parts or I finished the game and want to get all achievements, THAN I should look at walkthrough for the sake of it lol

Walkthroughs, like system manuals, are for wimps...up until you realise you just tried killing/deleting/destroying the king/epic item/system backup. Ever do an rm -rf * and realise you were in the Accounts Payable directory? It's that feeling.

ever since i've started playing RPG's i never read the walkthrough until i finish the game atleast once. that way I dont spoil the storyline. then when i go through it again. it gives me a guide to find everything.

I only search for a walkthrough when I'm stuck. For example the labyrinth in God of War III. It spoils the game a bit, but it gets you further.
