Holy shit... that price is enough to make it not worth it at all, you know? I mean first of all getting Blu-Ray discs is expensive enough, but the Blu-Ray Burners are just what the fuck expensive, plus the hardware required... It is probably better just getting the games normally, honestly.

I applaud you, ps3; you've fought off pirates in almost everyway possible.

The modchip isn't new. It's been out of a while now, Beta tests where going on for like 6~8 months now. It's about time it showed up.
But seriously though, right now this is pointless :/

You don't need burners, you can just torrent away (if you have the patience and bandwidth that is) You just need an original copy from what I've seen from the vids and ofc a reasonably big hard drive for all those gigs.

if sony can patch out the use of other Os with a firmware, you can and will patch this. just hoping they dont take out usb ports, hahaha. anyway, people can refuse to update their ps3 firmware but they'll lose access to psn. not only that, they have done firmware on the disc where you need to update firmware in order to play the game. that way the newer games wouldnt be able to play on a ps3 with older firmware making that money you used to buy the mod chip become useless until they find another way around it which would possibly cost you more. if you really dont want to pay for your games just go to gamestop, buy a used game, play it for 6 days, and return it under 7 days of purchase for your money back.

Awesome news. I give it another year or two before some sort of method is implemented to work around the updating issue (similar to the way Wii modding works).
