So as any good gamer knows and eagerly anticipates, E3 is about two weeks away. So far though, no substantial facts have been released about the next Elder Scrolls. Luckily there are some patterns to reassure my all-consuming desire for the next installment in the series.

1) The initial announcement of another Elder Scrolls from Bethesda in 2010
2) The once-every-four-years pattern of Elder Scrolls games that Bethesda seems to be following
3) Bethesda's infuriating habit of not releasing any information about an Elder Scrolls game until mere weeks before it's released

I loved Morrowind and Oblivion more than any other games I've ever played, so any scrap of a rumor that floats up to my screen makes me want substantial news so much more.

Anyone heard any good (even rumors) news about the game?
What do you want in the game that wasn't in the previous installments?
Think the announcement at E3 will happen? Or are we waiting another four years for another console?

meh Oblivion left me disappointed, probably cause i got the console and not pc so I couldn't add the fun things people made, but anyway I felt like killing everyone in the world but the guards said no, no matter how far I progressed my skills, so halfway through I just said screw it. Also I want throwing weapons back!

Yeah, Oblivion was disappointing. I hope they go back more towards Morrowind with the next one. Hopefully there won't be bandits demanding five gold in glass armor and you are effectively the God of Death at the end like you were by the end of Morrowind.

I will say I liked Morrwind much more than Oblivion. There was a feeling of complete freedom and epicness with Morrowind, while Oblivion was much more shallow. Plus the fast-travel in Oblivion made the game world much smaller. If they just did a Morrowind-style game with revamped graphics and character animations I would be all for it.

Actually I'd say the most annoying were those damn gates, after the 5th one and the same layout on every level, i said screw it, let the little buggers rape a town, they never did for me though =(

Hmm I was worried that they originally weren't gonna' make an Elder Scrolls [it's not too late for them to change their minds]
But if they do make another, "Sweeet"

But yeah, Morrowind rapes Oblivion... hard.

Hmm but that said, I still liked Oblivion alot [that just means i worshiped morrowind]

Anyway Bethesda's new game [that first person shooter] looks crap >_>
They should focus on the new elder scrolls

Bethesda's new game won't be an elder scroll's game, but a new fallout game, called Fallout Vegas (and it's not a DLC or an expansion). So if you are hoping for a new ES game, it'll a take a while for that.
And personally, I think oblivion is a fantastic game, even if I enjoyed Morrowind more (if not my favorite game, it's among the top 5 for sure). Oblivion improved many aspects of Morrowind that were extremely annoying (and the action is SO much better, even if still was flawed in many things), and added some new things to hate (like the damned gates). And the main story is way better in Morrowind (although the guild mission's stories were awesome in Oblivion).

There are some conflicting quotes about their next big game, and while the New Vegas game is big news, it's not nearly as big as the Fallout before it, at least for Bethesda. Obsidian is taking a lot of the work haul for that game (fingers crossed). Here's something interesting :"At the moment we’ve got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there’s a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010," From Paul Oughton. Also :the publisher plans to release "three or four [big] titles a year,"

I know it's not written in stone (very, very far from it) but I would love to think that these quotes point to something related to the Elder Scrolls series, and I'm also kind of hoping that the MMO rumors are just hearsay.

Oh, and this too: IGN has contacted Bethesda's Vice President Pete Hines to confirm the next installment's release date, but he replied with the following statement, "I would not put too much in those quotes."

My hope is waning for a 2010 release, but I'm just hoping for some news at this point.

I hope this is true, I loved Oblivion but never played Morrowind, so I don't have any comparison there. Still, more ES is pure win!
