I've got both PS3 and Xbox 360, only the xbox gets used. So just personally, not really that excited, not until the prices goes goes down by half.

I hope new games for the Vita, who cares about next-gen, it'll probably be the last anyway. Consoles can't keep up with PCs and because of that quality AAA games on the PC don't appear all the time because of consoles.

built a super computer intel i7.. 16gb DDR3 + 2GB nvida geforce superclocked GPU
blows away xbox 360, now 360 gathers dust...

you'll never get a console as powerful as a pc these days.. NEVER!
Remember they make and design all console games on pc's.

I think people that buy consoles buy them for the convenience not necessarily for the eye candy. I think the next gen isn't going to be a giant leap in graphics more so a smoother experience and more multitasking capabilities. Like maybe video chat while playing, easier menu navigation while in game, more games running at 60fps 1080p, future 4k capabilities, more in depth profile systems. In other words more like a computer. At this point they are going to need more than a hardware update to impress me.

Probably PS4 announcement. Sony has been taking a huge beating lately, they need to let their investors have something to look forward to. I for one don't plan on getting a PS4. Maybe around 2-3 years in or smth I'll get one, but I've lost interest in consoles for the most part. I'm gonna build me a PC sometimes this year, get me a Wii-U for Zelda and shit, and that will be that for a nice while.

I still need to overclock my 2500k to 4.5ghz just to play God of War on pcsx2, and that's a PS2 game. it's not about how powerful a machine is, it's all about software and suitable architecture, and that's why consoles are way better than PCs.

also, not any "2GB" superclocked GPU will suffice. it's not all about Vram to begin with... GTX 550 TI 2GB superclocked cannot achieve an acceptable resolution with max settings on COD BO2 anyways

it's all Sony's fault that we're wasting our time on this discussion. they HAD TO make everything so damn expensive...

LOL... maybe they'll mange to get 60fps at 1080p this time - cause it only does everything... anyway a waste however you look as a piece of hardware, only games make consoles stand out.
Oh and maybe this new Playstation will get to see Last Guardian and FF XIII Versus

That type of event is usually for hardware announcements, similary to when PS3 and Vita were announced. So if it's not PS4, not sure what it could be... Vita redesign? Ha!

I was once a great advocate of the PC Master Race, until I saw some exlusives I wanted to try. Now I realise that while PC is superior is so many ways, I simply can't lay semi naked on the bed in a most relaxed position with a PC.

If this is really PS4 announcement, I think it's good that Sony is announcing before Microsoft. Now they just need to get the price right and God forbid they'll have some awesome Vita integration.

No please, I'd prefer a tease. You got it all wrong, if sony really went on and did something as stupid as releasing the PS4 this year, they'll have to suck down the losses they will make, they are in the red. They are a giant on the verge of collapsing, making and stupid moves will cost them their future.

I am pretty sure they are going to hype the vita some more and the newcomer from sony: Playstation mobile on android devices.

I guess, we will find out soon enough now.

I think it'll be this year but who knows? Can they really wait for Microsoft this time round? Last time they had PS2's success to ride on. They are invited more than 1000 people to this event, I don't think it's going to be a simple tease.

Rumors suggest PS4 having two SKU's. One is for $429 and the other for $529. Assuming this is true, with the economy the way it is, and the less than stellar sale figures for the Vita...

They can't afford to not release it this year. The biggest reason the xbox has dominated this generation is the year long head start it got over the ps3. They need to get their console out first or MS will just ride the success of the 360 and Sony will never catch up.

They need to get their console out first and they need a really strong lineup of release games to draw xbox fans away while they're still waiting for the 720.

Shiiiiit, you see all of the tablets and smart phones selling? That is actually not a bad price when you consider inflation and what it 'should' be able to do. I just hope they give it enough RAM since its so much cheaper now. 256MB was shit.

"The PS4 uses the X86 CPU and has 8GB of memory and a local hard drive. It uses APU technology and GDDR5 memory, which is typically reserved for "top of the line, high end graphics cards."

Also, the controller has a small touch screen in the middle. Looks a lot better than the prototype that was leaked some days.

All of these features sound great but I want to see it executed. I mean I could see so many things going wrong with that. I like being able to boot the console right into where you left off in game.
