Default So I finished Persona 3 (almost).. What about Persona 4? - 05-04-2011, 08:50 PM

Just to be clear... one of the best RPGs... I EVER... played. I still got the Answer chapter (maybe it'll give me an ending that doesn't make me feel like ripping my heart out ) to go through but I'm wondering already about whether I should play Persona 4 or just wait till Persona 5 comes out (whenever that is).

So how's Persona 4 compares to Persona 3? Only asking because time spent playing this game... will surely bomb at around 90 hours. 1 game.... 90 hours... this has to be a record for a single...single player game to consume so much of my time. I'm wondering... can I survive another!? about the same amount of hours playing the sequel (or maybe Persona 4 is shorter?) so close after finishing P3?

Persona 4 has been released for years, it's a shame that you still haven't played it. It's great, has a better storyline than 3. I didn't think there would be another game that could surpassed 3 until I played 4. Boy, was I wrong.

Though I like 3, the Answer really pulled me out of the game. Better gameplay, but the plot is weaken. But hey, it's not like you're going to get bored because of that.

I concur with the esteemed above posters. I preferred the P3 storyline, but P4 is still very, very good, and you will not regret playing it.

As for The Answer, I wish you good luck and lots of patience. You'll need it for the interminable battles and occasionally unbelievable plot twists. But it is closure of a sort, I guess.

I spent close to 5 hours farming for Tomes of the Void so that certain someone in my party wouldn't heal last boss to full every time it did Queen of Night 5 times in a row!!! And that required going to Monad...which required beating Reaper... twice because the 1st time I didn't have the request!

I didn't know about the existence of Persona games, hey even most of other jRPGs... you don't exactly see them in shops unless it's Final Fantasy. So I dusted of my PS2 and been going through the lot I missed. Best decision I made in my gaming career in ages.

I think I'll give Persona 4 a spin after I'm done with the Answer and some other games in the pipeline. Unfortunately, time is a big constraint so when will that be I dunno

Errr... Persona 3 -> tragic but awesome
Persona 4 -> tragic... but only when compared to Persona 3...
still half decent.

Persona 4 storyline actually delves deeper into things - on what are shadows, how they arise, and what major shadows are - and as we see a persona is also a shadow, just a tamed on, in sync with the creator, the one who accepted his darkness. Persona 4 has a bad and a good ending. Aim for both. It never fully explains why powered individuals exist. While it slices through most things, the plot is at a lower level. No whole world dying, but rather just few people.

Persona 3 is all about the struggle, never about the truth. You are fighting to understand at first, but they are always pressured to act against threats, their only revelation is the actual fact that they have to find a way to stop the end and The Answer, explains the means that stopped the end, with just a vague dialogue, that says that people wished for the end, but never a solution to stopping what happens.

P3P fan: I still cling to my belief - that it's better for city of shitheads to die instead of a hero.

Yeah, the Persona series is one of the last thumbs up games the PS2 console has ever brought. Too bad there aren't good PS2 games like that lately, my shelf needs to be filled up more

I played it on my PSP - the p3p has also the female and gave me a chance to find more about Ryouji as well as the chance to save Shirogane. That is a thumbs up.

Awkward is the fact that the girl also is a pedo... >.> Ken storyline.

True that not that many left that caught my eye... I think only 1 or 2 left from PS2 era. Ah yes I got my eyes on Xenosaga games..alas they didn't really come out in Europe... so I'll have to use an emulator.

Shirogane...doesn't ring a bell... Although google tells me it's main character from Persona 4... he's in P3P?
