Well, I'd hope so. The current consoles are nearing five years. Computers need to be upgraded ever couple years... meaning $200-500+ each time. How much money is put into a pc during a five year span to get all the current updates? Meanwhile, consoles drop in price.
And what I'm trying to point out are the game's graphics. On paper a $2000 pc is superior... but people aren't dumping their entire income into gaming rigs just so they can get an erection looking at the numbers. It's about the games, and in spite of the gap in age of hardware and price, console games are still pretty close graphically overall.
Show me a handful of pc games that are 10 times graphically superior to console games.
There's few pc games that truly display the graphic superiority of gaming rigs. High end console games such as MGS4 and FF13 can match most pc games in terms of graphics even though the hardware is inferior for one major reason: pc game developers can't make games based off the highest end specs. They have to largely cater to the common pc gamer's system. There's too much diversity in pc specs for developers to know what they can push graphically.
Developers for consoles, meanwhile, know that the hardware is the same for all gamers, which allows them to freely push whatever limits they want.
