Default Ready for Wii U? - 04-17-2011, 08:50 AM

So it seems Nintendo is gearing up and finally making a follow up the Wii. Yes the Wii has sold gazillions and it has some good games but...well, its not on par with PS3 or 360 =/

Note: These are rumors so far...

Don't worry randall you still have one year and a half.

It's probably worth to mention that, even tho Wii 2 plans to be more powerful than X360 and even PS3, those 2 consoles are 10 times less powerful than up-to-date PCs. So, if Wii 2 happens to be twice as powerful as a PS3 it would still be 5 times less powerful than PCs.

Now you should ALL go watch this movie "Tangshan Dadizhen" (or "Aftershock" in English) right now. NOW.

Unless Nintento can convince me that they've given up on the casual market crap and are focusing on actual gamers again with the new system, I won't be bothering with it, 1080p Link, Samus, and Mario be damned.

Nintendo has been in their own little world since the N64. Yeah, the Wii sold like crazy but only because it was aimed at a general audience. This new system will probably just be a Wii HD and once again cater to casual gamers of all ages in order to be able to sell to a wider audience.

If consoles were actions movies, the 360 and ps3 are like the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies; action movies made for people that want to watch an action movie. The Wii is like Spy Kids; an action movie for all ages that will never be taken seriously, but does well at the box office because the viewing demographic is much larger.

I'll stick to my ps3, and eventually the ps4... which will shit on the Wii 2.

Also, UF, computer games are 10 times more powerful than 360 and ps3 games? Ummm... really?

Not computer games. Computer graphics.

...

Yes, that implies that there's a huge gap between hardware and software when it comes to PC graphics. And it's broadening.

I've been a Nintendo fag for most of my life and frankly they started going downhill once the gamecube came out. And if you have a friend that has both Wii and Xbox360 or PS3 the Wii is probably gathering dust in a closet or basement.

Frankly I love some of Nintendo's games to no end, but it's just not worth it to get a console for one or two games. Which is what I did with the gamecube, biggest mistake of my life :\. Zelda, you're hot, but you're not enough.

Well, I'd hope so. The current consoles are nearing five years. Computers need to be upgraded ever couple years... meaning $200-500+ each time. How much money is put into a pc during a five year span to get all the current updates? Meanwhile, consoles drop in price.

And what I'm trying to point out are the game's graphics. On paper a $2000 pc is superior... but people aren't dumping their entire income into gaming rigs just so they can get an erection looking at the numbers. It's about the games, and in spite of the gap in age of hardware and price, console games are still pretty close graphically overall.

Show me a handful of pc games that are 10 times graphically superior to console games.

There's few pc games that truly display the graphic superiority of gaming rigs. High end console games such as MGS4 and FF13 can match most pc games in terms of graphics even though the hardware is inferior for one major reason: pc game developers can't make games based off the highest end specs. They have to largely cater to the common pc gamer's system. There's too much diversity in pc specs for developers to know what they can push graphically.

Developers for consoles, meanwhile, know that the hardware is the same for all gamers, which allows them to freely push whatever limits they want.
