Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is pretty fun, especially if you liked the original FFIV. There's also FF: Echoes of Time, pretty suck though if you ask me about it. If you like sim building games and mission completion, without being involved in the missions, FF: My Life as a King is fairly entertaining, I definitely beat that one a couple of times. If you like tower defense, FF: My Life as a Dark Lord isn't too bad either. Both of those last ones are WiiWare titles, and without all the DLC aren't really all that fulfilling. Actual Wii games though you get Crystal Bearers, which was fun and all, but a little disappointing in my opinion. Then there's Chocobo's dungeon, which is pretty much your standard dungeon crawler, it isn't too bad, but those really aren't my type of games so I haven't done too much to play through it. But as Iduno said, the gamecube Crystal Chronicles was totally awesome, especially if you get some friends to sit down and jam it out with you, only really issue for me was the heavy use and need of peripherals.
Other than that, Tales of Symphonia was a great suggestion. The battle system definitely doesn't have an FF feel to it, it's more along the lines of the Star Ocean games, but the system works really well, it has fairly decent graphics, a good story line, and for a change in english titles, a good voice acting cast. If you're into a more Action/RPG feel as well, kind of like Crystal Bearers, there's definitely a few good games out there worth taking a look at. Muramasa: Demon Blade immediately jumps to mind for me. 2D side-scroller with cartoonish graphics, but it's constant action, and has a lot that you can do with it, including two different characters to play through with, and that you need to play through with if you intend on unlocking everything. On top of that Okami is a really solid game as far as action goes. If you're really into plot and nice looking cut-scenes, Metroid: Other M was a great game that has a really fun Action/Adventure feel to it that you got a small taste of in Crystal Bearers, though I must say it was done a whole lot better. I could go on but I don't feel like spending another half hour looking through my collection and writing up about every game I enjoyed and why, but if any of these ones peak your interest and you want to know about more that are along the same lines, let me know and I'll be happy to give you a few more suggestions on them. |
