Actually Star Wars:KOTOR is a revelutionary RPG title. It introduced a plot altering decision system into mainstream RPG's.Any RPG fan will tell you that it was probably the most influential RPG of this DECADE!

but then i can say infamous is revolutionary...actually infamous was bloody gd wihth hole plot thing (so thats where suckerpunch nicked it from) still, there needs to a change over the whole game format...the battle system needs to change dramaticaly to summink fresh altho i like the whole plot alteration thing i feel it will kill ff cause ff is all about the story lol the moment the player can change the story dramatically i think it will take away from the ff grand scale of thing factor.. it wont be anime esque almost lol i feel the battle system needs to be integrated with game possibly there is kinda a move in the right direction with battle system...but theyre failing at it atm

Yeah! What you are referring to is the linear plots that the FF's present.
I'm a huge fan of those Grandiose linear FF plots but I also do enjoy non linearity and Bioware titles do that better than anything else!

still the way the game is approached needs to change this is quite a hard thing to as for, lol cause they r tryin to change it r square since the days of the sphere grid...that bein said ff13 seems to have a hybrid systems, like the battle system seems hybrid between 12 and 10, also there is a sphere grid esque type of thing... i gotta admit the sphere grid was a wonderful thing... the liscense grid wasnt too easy to use

I don't get the grids....but the best FF combat system I liked was the one in FF8.It was challenging but fun!

the ff8 was nice, also the whole drawing magic from points and monsters was genius, ill give u some gd news the hole summon sytem is an evolotion of the one in ff8, where only 1 summon is compatable with 1 character, rather than compatability increases or decreases, but i like the sphere grid cause it kinda sets the scene for a character, to play the game but if u play the game more deeply and do loadsa extras u get the option for the character to chnage into more than just spellcaster/warrior... 8 was gd too causeit kinda made it more realistic in teh sense that if magic was available it would be useable by everyon..but there core stats r different i enjoyed that

this maybe of interest
The battle system in Final Fantasy 13 will be in ATB (Active Time Battle), it will differ from previous Final Fantasy’s that also had ATB by being more fast-paced. Final Fantasy 13 has been said to also take the ATB to the next level.

Along with all the fast-paced battles, there will be a strategic side to the battle system. This will come in the form of command input battles, where the player will input commands and the actions will be executed in a continuos chain.

Sometimes in Final Fantasy 13 there will be just one person, but there will also be times when a party of characters will be formed. In party battles, the members will be able to chain together their actions.

The type of battles which are in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, and also that were only possible during previous Final Fantasy’s in FMV, are now possible in the Final Fantasy 13 in-game battles too.
