Sounds like an interesting idea. I can see working with someone else either being really fun or a migraine. Nonetheless, I love the idea!

G-Ssotm will be 2 months long or until 3 entries...this can always be changed to provide more time. 2 months should be enough. Will judge the progress after 4-6 weeks of all the groups and talk about it then.
It was directed at you *kidding...*Maybe so, I've written one before people seemed to like well enough, comedy anyways...parody could prove hard, but you won't know till you try! I take it Baka Baka & ghostthegreat have volunteered to participate. So that's 3 people, no groups so far everyone! Oh, if you choose Baka Baka, bring a whip! She's lazy. |

You must not be a very funny person IRL, because comedy isn't that hard. Look around this little section, get an idea on who likes what. Or just go watch some anime in the Comedy section- they all have common things. Number one I always notice, is "Misdirection". |

The most important thing to realize when doing comedy is that written comedy is not the same as drawn comedy. For example, the subtle face gestures, face palms, and so on don't work at all (unless you're very talented) in the written form. Puns, word play, and playing someone the fool work very well though.

It's as TTally said, it's learning the people or the characters, then having them do things they normally wouldn't do, or certain other things that if people knew them, they would understand the joke. Or if someone has a certain habit, make them use that habit over & over, but make it stand out, and as Risuzu said, in a way that plays them as the fool.
It's not so much that you need to think of clever lines, just be really good at express certain "moments" go wrong. The comedy should follow easily. If you need an example Baka Baka, here's a fan fic I wrote that the readers on that site thought were funny, though it's probably not funny to anyone else who isn't a big fan of the series: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] *This is turning into a discussion...* Example: "Mat" is known for gambling/loving money/risk,etc. (This is a mid-evil type book, swords and magic, etc). So I made "Mat" the owner/brand of a "Car". Being funny, because since you can't rust Mat the gambler, you can't trust the Mat line of cars! (Not funny unless read in context btw...). Or taking all the "hard as steel" fighters from the story, and instead of them crossing swords....they cross needles in a sewing competition, LoL. Hope that helped Baka Baka. So TTally, Risuzu, I'm assuming since your here you would like to participate :]. Awesome! That now gives us 6 people! Enough for 3 groups. Keep them coming! So it seems we are going to be doing a romance...though the other one's have quite a few votes. Makes me wonder if we almost shouldn't have a sub-genre for this. But that might make it too difficult so... |
