Default Group Ssotm - 07-26-2010, 02:34 PM

You may only vote for 3 Genres!! Voting for more than 3 will make all your votes disqualified! Pleas & Thank you!

1. Post here if you are interested in participating & pairing up with someone to write a Group Ssotm. (Post also who'd you like to group with!)
(Unfortunately I didn't select public poll....otherwise I'd use the names from there and this would be faster...)

2. Post what kind of "Theme" you would like this Group Ssotm to be, whether freestyle or something else you have in mind. (Since this is our first time, Freestyle might be best).
Theme's = Espers, Magic, Military, Space, Dreams, etc. (Mech's? Or is that a genre...)

3. Post also if next time we should make the pairings either 1. Random. Or 2. Let the readers/authors vote on "Pairings" to make it interesting. But for now, lets just have everyone decide who they want to group with. No more than 2 per a group (Unless we have an odd person out, then will make an exception).

Unless you all want to have random/voted pairings for the first competition? Just say so.

I'll put up a poll for which Genre this G-Ssotm should be. (If I forgot one, and you don't want any of the one's up there, state in your post clearly what Genre you would like).

The rules & Prizes will be much the same as the regular Ssotm, but probably a 2 month deadline to give teams adequate time to finish.

Obviously I will participate!
I'll group with whoever wants to.

Note: If we have multiple people clamoring to pair with the same person...and the person wont choose someone.....say...Baka Baka & Fate both want TTally....Duratrix will decide for us then, lol. (Same goes for if no1 pairs up with anyone but we have people wanting to try this).

(This is another reason I recommend random/voted pairings, less chance of conflict/5 people going for 1 person, lol...but then again, everyone may not "work" together if they were "stuck" with someone they did not pick...so the choice is up to you for next time what we should do!).

If you do not want to participate and have nothing helpful to add, please do not post here!
To avoid confusion of whether or not you want to participate in the Group Ssotm.
Please vote/Decide within the next 5-10 days! Thank you!

Oh god... Why is my name inside again. /Facepalm...

And do we even have time for this? There's still the normal Ssotm going on... And I hate you for putting the red, big sentence. I feel like it's directing at mi. >:

And I have a strong feeling comedy/parody is going to be very, very hard since you have to make the readers laugh, not just you and your partner laughing.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I can see working with someone else either being really fun or a migraine. Nonetheless, I love the idea!

G-Ssotm will be 2 months long or until 3 entries...this can always be changed to provide more time. 2 months should be enough. Will judge the progress after 4-6 weeks of all the groups and talk about it then.

It was directed at you *kidding...*

Maybe so, I've written one before people seemed to like well enough, comedy anyways...parody could prove hard, but you won't know till you try!

I take it Baka Baka & ghostthegreat have volunteered to participate.

So that's 3 people, no groups so far everyone! Oh, if you choose Baka Baka, bring a whip! She's lazy.

You must not be a very funny person IRL, because comedy isn't that hard. Look around this little section, get an idea on who likes what. Or just go watch some anime in the Comedy section- they all have common things. Number one I always notice, is "Misdirection".

The most important thing to realize when doing comedy is that written comedy is not the same as drawn comedy. For example, the subtle face gestures, face palms, and so on don't work at all (unless you're very talented) in the written form. Puns, word play, and playing someone the fool work very well though.

It's as TTally said, it's learning the people or the characters, then having them do things they normally wouldn't do, or certain other things that if people knew them, they would understand the joke. Or if someone has a certain habit, make them use that habit over & over, but make it stand out, and as Risuzu said, in a way that plays them as the fool.

It's not so much that you need to think of clever lines, just be really good at express certain "moments" go wrong. The comedy should follow easily.

If you need an example Baka Baka, here's a fan fic I wrote that the readers on that site thought were funny, though it's probably not funny to anyone else who isn't a big fan of the series: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

*This is turning into a discussion...*

Example: "Mat" is known for gambling/loving money/risk,etc. (This is a mid-evil type book, swords and magic, etc). So I made "Mat" the owner/brand of a "Car". Being funny, because since you can't rust Mat the gambler, you can't trust the Mat line of cars! (Not funny unless read in context btw...). Or taking all the "hard as steel" fighters from the story, and instead of them crossing swords....they cross needles in a sewing competition, LoL. Hope that helped Baka Baka.

So TTally, Risuzu, I'm assuming since your here you would like to participate :]. Awesome! That now gives us 6 people! Enough for 3 groups. Keep them coming!

So it seems we are going to be doing a romance...though the other one's have quite a few votes. Makes me wonder if we almost shouldn't have a sub-genre for this. But that might make it too difficult so...

If you need a person to make a balance, I can do it. But I get more or less motivated based on the subject so... yeah.
