*scratches head* Well, If I'm not mistaken, this is my first time starting a thread in here. I dunno what happened, but I ended up writing a Death Note fan-fiction, a continuation of the story to be more precise. I usually just focus on the novel I am writing in real life, but I just happened to write this during the past two hours... So here it is. I haven't revised it yet, and I somehow have a ton of ideas. The cause is most likely me being dissatisfied with the ending of Death Note.

Death Fought
Chapter 1:
Shinigami Realm. Yeah, that should be a good place to start our story. There you can see Ryuk, or what's left of Ryuk. His body's twisted in a way that exceeds imagination. He needs his earthly apples, but no apples are there... there just isn't any. According to Ryuk, it was Near, may he rest in peace, who made sure that apples are rendered non-existent in the human world. "They attract the power of Death Notes," said Near "...although it's a 9% possibility, we'd better not let our guard down like L did."
Indeed, Near has aged and died in the 17 of age. Reason: Unknown... which is really odd by the way. For in the Shinigami world, and in the death notes, every single death is precisely documented. As a matter of fact, the only reason why death notes could kill at certain dates was so the deaths could be documented. Of course, if the Shinigami had no time to write the date of the death, the human would still die at a certain time. A death note had to include such a feature, it is completely understandable, especially with all these demons going loose right now. Who is the master, who set the demons loose, nobody knows, but many people can guess. In hell, there are many ingenious figures that can work together... Actually, many things are happening in the after life, but even the creatures that do them still don't quite understand the reason behind such doings. Few things are known, however, like how the very people and angels of heaven have been split into 3 groups: One demanding Yagami Light to be crucified, one demanding Yagami Light to be in hell, and one demanding to forget about his past and focus on finding him. Yes, Kira has attained his freedom, though it's unsure how would he be "Kira" without his precious death note. As far as L's hunch goes, it is him who caused all the turmoil in hell.
L, the so unfortunate L, was cast out to the Shinigami Realm after his death. "It is by blindly fighting for mankind's twisted laws that he became a master puppeteer of various grim reapers, who blindly served a world more deluding than ever." O... where have I gone... I was talking about Ryuk, wasn't I? Well, ladies and gentlemen, the story shall be narrated starting a certain moment in the Shinigami Realm, where both L and Ryuk reside, among other reapers:
Ryuk - Why don't you go kill some people, L? You gotta write something in that note or you'll die soon. Look, you're starting to gradually regain your human form. You will die once you become a complete human.
Alter - Leave him be... The Master said the human L caused enough deaths to live for a good time, but he still wasted all his time sitting in his awkward way doing nothing... He just refuses to kill anyone, and prefers to fade from existence.
Ryuk - Sad, isn't it? Ignorance is really sad... Most humans never realize that fate is just a chain reaction. It is both uncontrollable and unstoppable. You never knew, L, that you were a very significant force in this chain reaction...
Alter - But you know you can still have some revenge against fate... You can go kill some humans! Although they will be born again... Only a saint can go to heaven; only a demon can go to hell.
Ryuk - whatever... He's spent ten years simply "regretting" that his very life as a Shinigami is fueled by the deaths of others... There's no way you can convince him.
The master of the shinigami, or "The Old Man" in Ryuk's words, dwells in a moon which floats over the Shinigami Realm. It's thanks to this floating moon that the Shinigami Realm is so dark and infertile. If you were to hover into his room like a lost soul, you would be able to see him sitting on the ground, nearby his throne, adoring Amane Misa from her naked feet to the tip of her crown, a crown made of withered roses. As if she were his Goddess, she commands and demands. She keeps giving him the cold shoulder. She behaves like a princess and demands things that would require him, personally, to travel to Earth and bring them. Just by looking at her manner of dress, you know for sure that she's always trying to seduce the man till he becomes her puppet. It was her who tricked the old man into "helping" Light to escape. While scheming, Misa used the word "help" in her mind, only because she knew her man very well... "Stop the pain," she said to the Old Man ", I don't want anything else, just stop his pain." Her angelic look was fake, but it
seemed quite normal to the man who's been observing the world of fake eyes for so long, and so her request was granted... Although she has been paying so dearly for this... She knew Light would
escape: To stop the pain is to allow him to think, and there's no telling what happens once Kira starts thinking...
Back to the Shinigami Realm, the low lands. There stand Ryuk and Alter, perplexed. Even with their large and monstrous eyes, all they can see before them is L dying... They cannot see the withering flowers, or decaying trees, nor the black rain. They can't hear the screams of pain that echo from hell. They cannot see, as if never be, and with mouths open, nothing they tell. Perhaps his retaining a human form has somewhat helped L in gaining their fruitless sympathy. For the first time, he seems to be crying. He only says "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry" and fills his eyes with tears, like a little child. In this dry land, there's only one sign of life, that is L's tears. The one who lived and died serving nothing, was reduced to a monster. Yet, the human soul remains the same. "I am L, I am justice... I am L, I am... nothing..."
In L's dying eyes, he sees a strange smoke... The stone-cold Ryuk seemed to be screaming. L never knew why... is it sympathy? As he was dying, L only wished a second chance... He realized that Light was just another victim of the fake world.
L's eyes are slowly closing, gazing the smoke before him. However, both the smoke and Ryuk's screams cease at once... It seems the smoke was nothing other than a shinigami's dying body, a smoke caused by Ryuk's death, who spent his last moments crawling towards L. L looks closely, and sees a silhouette behind the dust of the dying shinigami. There's a man kneeling on the ground, he seems to be picking something off the ground, it's probably Ryuk's Death Note.
The man walks towards L, his figure becomes clearer and clearer, and his cold voice that speaks mockingly, is truly familiar. The man says "O look, Ryuk, it seems I've finally discovered a way to kill a shinigami... I'll be taking this Death Note, my Death Note." An ill wind sweeps the dust of Ryuk, and reveals the man who was once a silhouette. Light, Yagami Light, has succeeded in breaking out of hell. He slowly walks towards L, and he seems to be speaking something. Light stretches his hand to L, and says: "Shall we create a world, where the previous actions of L will truly serve justice?"
Light hands L a Death Note with his left hand, and gives him a pill in his right hand. He knows how disappointed L must have been... This time, however, Light's not using L for Kira's advantage. This time, L is a brother, and a friend. As L swallows the pill, he doesn't seem to be dying anymore. Then, he writes something dictated by Light, and the two descend into earth.
