This is my first story that is for the public to see, I do hope that you guys will enjoy this story

Summary: Ghost is a university graduate who wants to make it big in life, but after literally crashing into a strange girl his life is changed, with a new power...
Chapter 1: The Accident
“I can’t believe it!!” shouted one of his acquaintances as they were riding together in the car.
“Hah ha, dammit. We’re finally out of university. All those years of work finally bearing fruit after much patience”.
“I agree, I’m so relieved now that I’ve finally graduated.” “What if you were to die now… what if all those years of hard work were to go down for nothing”,
“I’d be damn pissed, I never worked so hard so that I can have God telling me ‘I gave you 9 years to enjoy your life but you never took advantage of it’ ”, “9 years ? but your 22!” , “Don’t count the years of infancy and childhood, because you had no clue of what the hell you were doing” ,
“I see… you have a point there” , “Drop me of over here will you” , “Are you sure? I really have no problem in dropping you straight at home” , “No, I just feel like walking for some time” , “Ok then, See you at the graduation party tonight”, and with that he left Ghost just by a pavement “Sigh, I really do feel relieved now that I have passed university” he stared at the bus stop which he had to cross in order to get home. The truth is, walking helps Ghost visualize and clear up his mind for a while. As he was so busy conjuring up thoughts about his plans for the future, he wasn’t paying enough attention to what was going on around him. Suddenly… Bang! A girl crashed into him and quite hard also, Ghost was thrown off balance and fell onto the street, his misfortune was such that, at that very moment a car was speeding towards him
“Is this really it? Is this how my life ends now… after all the studying, all the hard work, just when I thought that I was going to make it big… I just get thrown in front of some car to die a dog’s death. Shit! Shit! Shit!” The thought rushed through his mind. He tried to dodge the car by trying to manoeuver while falling, but to his dismay it all failed, and he was knocked unconscious.
“ Oh my God! I hope he’s fine” all he could hear was the fading voices of chaos as his vision was extremely blurred out, he could see the girl who bumped into him and a doctor. Even though his vision was blurred he could make out that he was in a building, and not anymore on the streets, he could see the girl’s hands and the doctor’s clothes stained in red. He slowly felt his energy being drained and he shut his eyes.
“Is he going to be alright doctor?”, The doctor stared at the worried face of the girl
“Well, I’m no God let us only pray and hope that he survives this without any permanent effects, he has lost a lot of blood, even if he survives then there might be a chance that the damage done to his brain by the accident may cause memory loss, short term memory or in a worst case scenario… he might even go insane”. The girl became a bit distressed at the doctor’s response. She went near the window and stared at Ghost lying on the hospital bed, she felt guilty at the fact that he ended up there. For the next few days she visited Ghost regularly, eventually one day the doctor looked at her with a somewhat relieved look
“Good news! It seems that he survived, now we are just waiting for him to wake up”, the girl cheered up, she was happy at least that the mishap never caused any death. She went in the room and stood by Ghost’s bed staring at him. Suddenly Ghost opened his eyes, staring right into the girl’s face, she backed away a little. He rose up and kept on staring at the girl’s face.
“What am I doing in a hospital, I thought I saw heaven” suddenly the doctor burst into the room.” Hello young man, how are you feeling?”
“Well… I’ve definitely felt better before, this girl over here was almost going to be the cause of my death, but I’m not angry with her, because at least I’m still alive”
“Your memory is quite well intact, I see”
“Of course, what the hell could possibly be wrong with my memory , by the way umm… girl, I appreciate the fact that your happy with my wellbeing, most people would have just left me to die on the streets” the girl became even happier to see that the Ghost’s memory was not damaged by the accident. The doctor also looked a lot more relieved to see Ghost’s state.
” Well I want you to see me in my office before you are discharged, I’d like to discuss a few things with you” and with that he left the two in the room. “You have my gratitude, even though we are strangers you took such care of me when I was unconscious, I doubt that my friends would have done that”.
“Wouldn’t anyone have, besides it seems like you don’t trust your friends much”
“You only think that people always help each other because your nature is such, I don’t want to lose someone like you as a friend, would you care to be a friend of mine”
“You talk as if you know a lot, very well I guess it couldn’t hurt to have a new friend”
“Great! Will you wait for me, while I have a word with doc”
“Sure, but be mindful of time”. Ghost left the girl in the room and went to the doctor’s office.
“Yo Doc”,
“I still never got your name”,
“It’s Ghost” ,
“ Well Ghost, are you feeling alright, do you maybe feel that you can’t respond to certain thing quite well or maybe your memory might have been lost or something”
“I’m right here doc and as you can see I’m perfectly fine and my memory is still as perfect as it used to be, besides just because I damaged my brain doesn’t mean that I’m a retard or my memory is damaged” the doctor was baffled at Ghost’s response
“I… I never mentioned that your brain was damaged neither did I say that you’re a retard”, “C’mon doc you just told me that my brain was damaged and you called me a retard, besides I think that the damage might have done something to my eye sight as I can’t see people talk sometimes” ,
“I swear, I never told you that your brain was damaged”,
“Well whatever, I gotta go doc” and with that he left the doctor baffled in his office, the doctor was wondering how Ghost could know that his brain was damaged when the doctor never mentioned that fact, it was almost as if Ghost could read his mind…

I apologise to my readers for the huuuge delay in the new chapter. Real life and all you know. Well actually when writing this story I had intended to write atleast 4 chapters, then I scraped the idea after realising that I couldn't make it more interesting. After that I intended to totally scrape the story, writing a better and longer story instead. This was just a way for me to see if people would enjoy my writing and if my time wasn't actually being wasted. But after seeing the reader's comments again and again I decided that I would eventually continue.

So this is how it goes now, I promise that within 24 hours of writing this I will publish the new chapter. I just need somebody to comment so I can't double-post. After the 3rd chapter I intend to finish the story. And I will share with the readers what I had originally intended for the fourth chapter, if they find it interesting and urge me continue, I will do so. Otherwise I will stop with this story and write another one.

Summary of everything
Before this whole idea hit me, there was a dialogue which bugged me alot. I had implemented this dialogue into a single scene, and before I knew it I had a story. But I wanted to know if people would enjoy my story and I published it, intending to write a lot of chapters. I then scraped the idea since I thought that my readers might get bored. I will ask for opinions again after the third chapter.

Chapter 2: Realisation
Ghost came out of the hospital accompanied by the beautiful girl who made him end up in the hospital in the first place.
“I never got your name” Ghost looked towards the girl as they kept on walking.
“Sophia, my name is Sophia. And what is your name?”
“Ghost, I’m known by everyone as Ghost”
“Ghost! That’s quite a peculiar name.” Sophia looked like she wanted to laugh at the name, but she controlled her desire to do so.
“It’s not my real name. It’s just a nickname that became so common that it eventually became like my first name. You want to grab a bite perhaps?” Ghost scanned his trousers’ pocket to check if his wallet was still there. Once he found it, he scanned it to know the amount inside.
“Nah, I need to hurry home. I have some work to attend to. Besides what is your real name, if it isn’t Ghost.” Sophia looked like she was about to part ways with Ghost.
“You’re hungry and first thing you’re going to do is eat. So why not just join along with your new friend. It seems that you are quite wary of me", Ghost completely ignored the enquiry about his name, rather urging her to have lunch with him.
“What are you? Some kind of a mind reader? I admit that you are correct.” Sophia became a bit surprised at Ghost’s response.
“Didn’t you just mention that fact…” Suddenly Ghost became quite. He had noticed it for a while now. He had been hearing too many people at once, and none of them moved their mouths when talking. The thought struck him that maybe what Sophia said was true, maybe he really was able to read the minds of people. But the very idea of such an absurd ability, seemed to be unreal. He reckoned that maybe he was just hearing things. He reckoned that even though he had a good rest in the hospital, if he was going to rest for a bit longer everything would go back to normal.

Saw some other stories. I realise that the other authors double posted as well, so what the hell.

This story is a huge mess, and it's all my fault. Please bear with it as I said before. Story will be longer than I had originally anticipated. Guess that proves to me that writing and thinking it out are two different things. Anyways enjoy chapter 2.5.

Chapter 2.5: Realisation (Part 2)

“Ghost, Ghost” Ghost realised that Sophia was calling his name. “Where were you lost? I gave it a second thought. I will accompany you along for lunch. But this is only formal. Don’t think of it like a date or something”

“Why do you think that I would want to date you?”

“Everything that happened today was so unreal. I mean within an instant we became friends. Even though we met for the first time, it feels like we have known each other for a long time now. And now being invited for lunch…”

“When you’re with me, nothing is unreal. I attract the unrealistic… just my luck! Like how I crashed into you and nearly died… I don’t mean to spiteful or anything, I’m just proving a point. So please don’t be offended. There’s a branch of Pizza Hut, how about we go and eat there”

“It was my fault for being so inattentive as to see where I’m going. Pizza Hut sounds cool, anything will do for now as long as it tastes good. I’m starving.”
Ghost and Sophia went silent for the rest of the walk to Pizza Hut. As they entered the restaurant Ghost’s vision extended towards the calendar.

“4 February…. Has it been a month since I was in hospital and recuperating? “

“Yes I’m afraid so, the doctor stated that it would be a miracle if you survived. Some of your cerebral components were extremely damaged. The car hit you head on, the angle and speed at which it hit you was directed towards your skull and neck”

”You see what I meant by unrealistic. Just my luck! Anyways, you sit down while I place a order”
Ghost placed an order for two and returned to the seat where Sophia was sitting.
“You still never told me what your real name is. Why do they call you Ghost?” Sophia seemed to be interested in knowing the story behind his name.

“Never mind that. I do not wish to bore you with that minor detail.” Ghost tried to brush the topic aside.

“No, I’m interested in knowing more about your name” Sophia stared towards Ghost, expecting him to finally give in.

“Very well then, they call me Ghost because that’s exactly what I am.” Sophia became confused at his answer “Most people ignore me, I have no friends, only a few acquaintances and even they don’t care about what happens to me. Simply put, it’s not like someone would lose sleep if I were to die today. Because I’m a Ghost, they won’t realise that I’m gone.”

Sophia lowered her gaze at Ghost’s response. “You’re wrong. I would have surely lost sleep… if you were to die… since I was the one responsible”

“That was a different scenario, if I were to lose my life a week later, would you actually care about the fact that I’m dead…. Anyways let’s eat, the food has arrived.”

After having lunch with Sophia, Ghost exchanged contacts and parted ways. He reached home after a while. Bills piling up his mailbox. No missed phone calls, no messages not a single mail from anyone he knew, to enquire the fact that whether he was still alive. Ghost proceeded to his bed, let out a heavy sigh and fell on his bed. “That’s exactly why they call me Ghost”….
