An Autumn Leaf's Lament

Do you remember that day,
As we walked along our lives,
Sharing all that we could give,
And giving all we could away,

Do you remember their faces,
Friends, families, and lovers;
Those who have touched your life,
They who passed through lives phases,

Do their memories linger,
As we move on in our lives,
Their laughters, and their tears,
All of which seemed then so meagre

We once shared our path as we started,
Like leaves falling in autumn chills,
Our lives intertwined with others,
Til the moment we soon departed

Such is life as we live on,
As we continue moving on through our paths,
As we share the momentary crossroads,
And let go of paths long gone

We will continue to love,
And to lose those that we once loved,
Be they momentary friendships,
Or what seemed to be eternal love

Life's cruellest memories,
Are rarely they of pain or suffering;
It is the happiest moments in life once lost,
That grief hums its melancholic melodies

Yet we can only move forward,
Like autumn leaves dancing in the wind,
As we continue to share our paths with others,
And bear our memories onward

Thus will an autumn leaf lament,
As it descends in its momentary life,
Sharing passing moments with many others,
Til it lies flat in its journeys end

Grieve not for those you have lost in your life, but cherish instead their memories as you share your life with others to come. You may not be the person who will stop wars and famine, but your words and actions will leave a mark on friends and lovers long gone, as theirs will touch yours for the rest of your life.

Thanks! Written during a mead-filled binge after my long distance girlfriend of 3.5 years broke up with me 2 weeks before I was about to head home. Watched the movie, teared myself silly, and wrote this out.

Thanks to her I have decided to devote my twenties to being an otaku, woohoo!

Also thanks to whoever it was who pointed out spelling mistakes (I SAW YOUR POST, lol) Hope there aren't any others.
