“Which girl would YOU choose?”

Harem time, this time lets throw in some demons, gods and clones into the mix and do you have a winner? Well let’s see shall we?

Shuffle is one of those animes you might want to take with a pinch of salt. As the name implies, this anime is like shuffling a deck of cards and picking one at random, you would never know what you were gonna get were it not for the previews. Rin Tsuchimiya is an everyday normal high school student, he lives with his childhood friend (Kaede), when he comes to school one day 2 new transfer students come to his school, these girls are a god (Sia) and a demon (Nerine), but not just any god or demon, they are the daughters of the God and Demon kings and they want Rin as their Husbands, which also gives the promise of Rin to be able to use either power of that species at will. Add in Rins middle school friend (Asa) and a mysterious loli girl(Primula AKA Rimu) and we have a recipe for something rather unique. The anime is almost split into 2 parts, the first 11 episodes are more laid back and comedy based as the girls all vie for Rin’s affection, from episode 12 we experience a lot more seriousness and drama of which focus is given to each love interest. Whether or not you like crazy slapstick comedy you see plenty in this series of which Sia and Nerine’s fathers are involved as well as the girls crazy fan clubs who want Rin removed, the majority is done from episode 3-11 with a srinkle here and there to break the drama up a little.

The art style however is one that is rather flexible, going from little detail to being highly detailed in a snap, some great faces are made on occasion too. The art is pretty standard in all other respects so it’s nothing that special really.

Soundtrack for the anime isn’t anything too special, however The OP and ED songs are pretty good, I particularly like the Op song “You” by Yuria

The dub, I can say I didn’t have any real issues with the voices they picked, they each get the job done to a decent standard, purists can just change to the Subtitles at any time if they prefer.

Overall I would say this anime is a decent yet intriguing series. The story may seem to be awkwardly paced and sometimes has some odd writing choices yet has many possibilities in how the anime could have turned out which makes on wish for other world OVA‘s ala Clannad, Art is average and fluctuates over the series and a sound track I doubt one would find that memorable, however a decent dub overall. Anyone who wants a school life comedy of supernatural proportions with a good deal of fan service, drama and romance, it’ll be right up your alley.

----------

As for the DVD’s themselves, the cover shows all the key girls amongst a field of sunflowers, the art being from the games, the box has a sleeve featuring the same artwork which is possibly pointless, however it’s nothing major. Along the spine are the girls with artwork from the anime as well as screen caps on the back over a picture of Rin holding Asa. The contrast is rather nice I feel.

The disks however are pretty plain adorned with the Shuffle logo and coloured bars which is rather nice, I mean I love the anime artwork included on other anime DVD disks but this feels simple and clean, the contents of each disk are:
Disk 1: Epsidoes 1-6, Episode select and choice of audio and subtitles
Disk 2: Episodes 7-12, Episode select and choice of audio and subtitles
Disk 3: Episodes 13-18, Episode select and choice of audio and subtitles
Disk 4: Episodes 19-24, Episode select, choice of audio and subtitles and trailers of other funimation releases

The main menu has anime artwork of 2 of the female cast amongst flower fields keeping in tune with the front cover.

Don't know if this is helpful or not and Darkchao45 asked for "input and critique"......so, "Review of the Review".
First nicely done. Quite concise. However I would have liked to see more on your impressions regarding the style. Perhaps a rating. Also your opinions regarding the over-all character development. Do you think there is a good balance or are the characters predictable and shallow......something along those lines.
Over then that it was great.
Thanks for the effort.

I just wanted to add thats it worth mentioning that Shuffle! has an ending that brings real closure to the story, which is a rarity in the harem genre.

I really like em!
The arts in it was great (I'd give them a 4.5 star rating)
Story line also rich in content from comedy to serious and deep relationship (A rare 5 star rating)
Soundtrack... well, I like the OP and ED, including the insert song soo... (A 4 star)

Anyway, this is a good show, especially its ending.
P/S: I got stuck with playing the game version after I watch this series.
