First ep of FMA was impressive in terms of animation (well, it’s Bones afterall), but I don’t really know what they intend to do with the story in 13 episodes… They can’t possibly follow the manga, unless they’re thinking on more seasons coming up afterwards. It’s true the new FMA has more of a “manga feeling” now, with the change in the characters designs and in the general plot, but I still don’t find this product faithful to the original story. To begin with, the bad guy in this episode doesn’t even appear in the manga at all… Let’s hope Bones to have already thought about these problems and surprise us with a fantastic new FMA.

I'm not sure where you saw it was only 13 episodes, I was under the impression it'd be more, and can't find anything saying otherwise.

if they try to fit whole story in 13 episodes i can't imagine how much spam mail with complains they will get
32+ episodes at least or they get flooded with threats

I've read it here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] , but maybe they got confused because 13 eps is what has been scheduled (see Anime News Network), and it's not the real length (well, I hope it's not ^^U).
