Has there ever been a harem anime where the protagonist WASN'T a clueless dorknozzle?

I was thinking the other day and as far as I can recall, the protagonists in every harem anime I've ever seen have been clueless putzs to some degree. If there was one thing that I didn't like about Elfen Lied(which just might be my all-time fav), it was Kouta. While I understand that it probably makes for a convienient plot device and I'm not bothered by it, as I myself would love to be surrounded by attractive adoring females. I think I've seen my fair share harem titles, but can't think of one that didn't have the usual protagonist.

Has anyone seen anything otherwise?

^ yes but thoses guys were half wits too.. even though it wasnt harem... i think b-gata-h was pretty close.. at least he tried to get laid...

But then, everyone hates Mankoto for going after every girl he knew and scoring by playing head games. Then there's White Album, but that show... blah. It just wasn't interesting and it was slow paced.

So, in the end, you just can't win. The main guy is either a dipthong or a total douchebag. Take your pick.

Seitokai no Ichizon, i m not sure if the male member is protagonist or not, but he's the only male member in student council club who wants to create harem, and i dont think he's clueless.
